Canadian Sphynx - characteristics of the breed, all the pros and cons

Origin story

Cats that looked like figurines were first mentioned in Ancient Egypt. The oldest breed of Sphynx was called the Mexican Hairless. Unfortunately, today it is completely lost. The last representatives were shown at the exhibition back in the thirties. Now the oldest breed - the Canadian Sphynx - is just over forty years old, the St. Petersburg Sphynx and the Don Lysak - even less.

Colors

The coat color of the Canadian Sphynx is determined by the characteristics of skin pigmentation. The color of the skin becomes clear within a few hours after birth. The range of colors of sphinxes is varied.

Solid

These colors are also called solid. This means that in the pet's color, one color predominates. The color of the nose and paws should match the pigmentation of the skin. Solid color can be:

  • white;
  • lilac;
  • cream;
  • blue;
  • black;
  • chocolate;
  • red.

Canadian Sphynx color code table.
Tortoiseshell colors, like other cat breeds, are typical only for females. Sphynx pigmentation occurs when two colors are mixed. The classic version is characterized by black and red colors. In the lightened type, these are blue and cream. Proportions and color options can be very diverse.

Bicolor animals can have any of the solid colors in combination with white. The colored part of the body has clear boundaries, and the proportion of white color is not a third, but in some cases up to half. One of the ears must be painted. The tail is also colored and has a white tip.

Color point

Such kittens are initially born white; after a few days the animal acquires its color. This type has several varieties:

  • Cream point. Rare color for this breed. The body is light cream in color, the eyes are blue, the nose and paw pads are pink.
  • Seal point. These cats are light brown or black-brown. Adults gradually darken, but the back is darker than the rest of the body.
  • Chocolate point. The color is lighter than seal point. An adult cat is golden brown in color.
  • Tabby point (links). The body is light, on the muzzle, paws and tail there are stripes with a dark edging.

Such colors are rare for this cat breed, and such individuals are highly valued among breeders and lovers of the Canadian Sphynx breed.

Harlequin

This type of color is an intermediate state between van and bicolor. There should be at least one spot on the head and several spots on the body, tail, and legs. The paws and nose are pink in color.

Wang

The animal is predominantly white in color. The tail and ears are colored in a contrasting color. No more than three spots of a different color are allowed on the body.

Canadian Sphynx

In the late sixties in Canada, a hairless kitten was born to an ordinary cat. After a while, the owners crossed him with his mother and got several more hairless kittens. A few years later, the creation of the Canadian Sphynx breed was announced. Thus, the kitten named Prune became the ancestor of a new species.

Caring for my first kittens was not easy. The breeders did not yet know how to care for them, and therefore the kittens often simply died. Thanks to the fact that nine years later two more kittens appeared in Minnesota, the breed was able to improve and strengthen. However, for several years, hairless kittens continued to appear occasionally in the USA and Canada. Some of them were sent to Europe to create a new branch of sphinxes.

Favorite place for sphinxes

In addition, you should be careful when purchasing a sleeping place for your animal. The fact is that due to the lack of a woolen coat, the cat is constantly freezing. Therefore, we recommend choosing the warmest and most comfortable place possible. This cat must be protected from drafts and open doors. The fact is that this cat is very weak, you should protect him from colds.

It is worth taking care of an individual corner for the cat. There must be a place where the animal can play, sharpen its claws and just relax.

Appearance

The breed improved over time, and the appearance of the cats gradually changed. The first representatives had folds and grooves all over their bodies. Modern Canadian sphinxes have retained them only in places. They are not as wrinkled as their ancestors and have smoother skin. Reviews and description of the Canadian Sphynx breed:

  • Their body size is quite average. They cannot be called large cats, despite their strength and muscularity.
  • They have a magnificent long and thin tail that is gracefully curled upward.
  • The hind legs are generally longer than the front legs, giving the dog a slightly elevated figure.
  • Mustaches are practically absent.
  • Little kittens are born with folds all over their faces. Over time, it smooths out a little, and in adult cats, as a rule, wrinkles remain only in the neck area and on the top of the head.
  • Straight and widely spaced ears are a distinctive feature of this breed. It is allowed to have a small fluff on the tips of the ears. The tips are usually rounded.
  • It has a well-formed and defined muzzle with expressive eyes and a large nose.
  • The shape of this cat's head is called wedge-shaped. It is quite harmonious, as it has almost the same width and length.
  • The eyes are usually large and round in shape, tapering slightly towards the tips.
  • The paws are slightly curved and have convex pads at the ends.
  • Thanks to its long toes and pads, the Sphynx has a unique gait. Externally, it feels as if he is gracefully walking on heels.

The greatest delight is the velvety, soft skin of sphinxes. According to owners, they constantly want to touch and stroke their pet. The color of cats can be very different. The breed standard identifies several types of Sphynx colors:

  • Quite popular is brindle.
  • The white color with dark spots is called “harlequin”.
  • There is a Siamese color, which has four varieties.
  • The striped tabby looks quite original and attractive.
  • An interesting color called "van" has a completely white background with a spot on the top of the head. The presence of two or three spots on the body is also allowed.

There are also solid and bicolor shades, which can be seen in the photo of the Sphynx breed. Among monochromatic cats you can find lilac, chocolate, white and cream cats. There is also a rather rare red tint, blue and black. Bicolor color assumes the presence of any of the listed shades in combination with white.

Caring for these animals requires effort and attention from the owners. There are some features of Sphynxes that are unique to this breed. It should be borne in mind that these cats are practically not independent and are very attached to their owner.

What they look like

Regarding appearance, it is generally very difficult to confuse such cats with someone else. Sphynxes' bodies are always warm, have a delicate texture, and feel like a peach. Sphinxes have a good character, they are smart and sociable.

Head

The head should be slightly longer than its width. In addition, there are no clearly defined cheekbones. The skull is slightly rounded. The nose is straight, but this does not make the muzzle rough or unpleasant.

Weight

Such cats reach a weight of no more than 3.5-5 kg. They are not too big, so this mass is enough for them. We strongly do not recommend overfeeding.

Frame

Relative to the body, the body is of medium length. In addition, the body is heavy and quite muscular. Body type is considered average.

How and what to feed the Sphynx

There are a lot of rumors and prejudices around this breed. For example, many believe that Sphynx cats are extremely picky eaters and are disdainful of eating food that has been sitting for two to three hours after cooking. This statement is completely wrong.

First of all, cats of this breed are big gluttons, since they have to spend a lot of energy to maintain heat. They eat much more and more often than others. Experts advise purchasing high-quality food for them, designed specifically for this breed.

How to educate correctly?

In the process of developing and shaping the character of a hairless cat, you need to take into account the characteristics of his psyche in order to raise an obedient and healthy member of your family. Learn to trust each other and you will succeed.

What to do about bad behavior?

He absolutely does not perceive rudeness. He may only become offended or become even more agitated, so it is necessary to punish carefully. If your baby climbs into prohibited places or scratches the wallpaper, use a spray bottle. Fill it with warm water, spraying your pet with a thin stream every time he tries to play pranks. Be careful not to get it in your eyes or ears.

Talk to him. Animals perfectly understand strict and confident intonation. There is no need to shout - it’s still useless. Try to distract the prankster with a new toy or interesting activity, switch his attention. It's a win-win. In adolescence - at 7-8 months, attempts will begin to establish their dominance over you or their own rules. Biting your hand or attacking your heels will become a common occurrence. Determine in advance what is acceptable for the kitten. What he is allowed to do now, he will do in adulthood.

Ways to encourage

Don't forget to praise your friend for being calm during nail trimming or bathing, and for being obedient. Stroke him on the head and back, say kind words. Be sure to give a treat - a piece of meat or cheese. Then the baby will learn that good behavior is pleasantly rewarded.

The Sphinx chooses its own leader in the family, to whom it will obey. This must be a person with a stable psyche and strong willpower. The pet will treat everyone else as his friends. Don't let the animal manipulate you, otherwise it will become a habit. Look for compromises and set your own rules without giving in to provocations.

Sphinxes are incredible creatures. They will always feel sorry for you if you feel bad. They love company and are always ready to establish contact with those who like them. These are true friends for creative, energetic and kind people. Unpretentious cats will not take up much of your time; caring for them is quite simple.

Approximate diet

They are contraindicated in eating fatty, salty and smoked foods. Any of these products can cause a sticky brown residue to appear on your skin. As a rule, the daily diet consists of three types of food: natural, dry food and wet canned food. Owners are advised to place three bowls at the same time into which each of these feeds is added. Natural products must be raw (meaning meat) or cooked. So, what should you feed the sphinx?

  • The majority of your daily diet should be beef or chicken. Animal liver is also allowed.
  • About fifteen percent are dairy products. They should not be sweet or too fatty. Preference is given to fermented baked milk, cottage cheese and special milk intended for animals.
  • Dry food is selected only from well-known companies specializing in cat nutrition.
  • The animal is given a chicken egg no more than once a week.
  • It is recommended to use porridge or vegetable mixtures. Their quantity should not exceed five percent of the total food volume.

Thus, we can summarize: 60% - meat, 20% - dry food, 15% - dairy products, 4% cereals and vegetables and 1% seafood.

Care and maintenance

Her main desire is absolute purity. These animals are quite picky, so even a few meters away they will not go to their small toilet if it is still dirty. In addition, such cats will not eat from an unwashed bowl, like representatives living on the street.

In addition, to make your pet feel comfortable, you should take care of the litter in the toilet in advance. It is better to choose a woody one so that there are no various unpleasant aromas. Such fillers can be purchased at any veterinary store or even a specialty pharmacy.

One of the weak points of the animal eye. They lack eyelashes, and babies are born sighted. Therefore, we recommend wiping your eyes with special infusions or chamomile decoction 1-2 times a week. Pay attention to your ears; they should be cleaned of wax and dirt. Don't forget to trim their nails 2-3 times a week.

How to care for your skin

Owners of Sphynx cats often note in their reviews that after a while a brown coating appears on the surface of their pets’ skin. This is a feature of the structure of the skin. Sphynx cats should be bathed (or at least wiped with a napkin on their sides) at least once every fourteen days. In specialized stores you can buy shampoos designed specifically for sphinxes. As a rule, other detergents are not suitable for them. The seller can also offer cat care wipes. Fortunately, hairless pets love to bathe. Water treatments are easy and relaxed.

If you do not maintain hygiene, then over time various dermatological problems may arise, which will be quite difficult to get rid of.

Another feature of the Sphynx's skin is that it can tan. This can be seen in those cats that love to bask in direct sunlight. By the way, such procedures do not bring anything good for them. Being in the sun for a long time, a sphinx can easily get sunburned.

Breeding

To become a breeder of Sphynx cats, you must carefully take care of the health of the cat and the kittens that are born. It is imperative to approach this issue as responsibly as possible and regularly carry out the prevention of various diseases.

If your cat is pregnant and will soon give birth, everything should happen exclusively in the presence of a doctor or in a veterinary hospital.

We strongly do not recommend breeding pets that already have health problems.

Diseases and hygiene

Sometimes your cat has bad breath. This is primarily due to inflammation of the gums, which can be damaged by spicy foods (for example, shrimp). And also in the absence of oral hygiene when keeping sphinxes, the teeth of animals quite often deteriorate. They become covered with a yellow coating and become loose over time. You can purchase a special toothpaste for cleaning your teeth at your veterinary pharmacy. It is also recommended to feed the cat cleansing food for some time.

According to reviews of Sphynx cats, they are most often exposed to colds. This is a real scourge. A Sphynx cat should not be in a draft after bathing. Among hereditary diseases, the most commonly observed are airway obstruction, congenital disorders of muscle tone, and heart disease.

The skin and ears of the animal require special attention. A brown, sticky coating may form on the skin, and dirt may accumulate in the ears, leading to inflammation. Due to the lack of eyelashes, the Sphynx sometimes has eye problems. The owners will have to take full responsibility for caring for these parts of the body.

Cats have sebaceous glands under their tail that secrete oil. Sometimes the glands become blocked and then acne occurs. The owners must carefully remove them, and then wipe the tail with a special means for degreasing the skin.

Minuses

  • - afraid of the cold
  • -needs daily care and frequent bathing
  • -may seem overly “clingy” to the owner

Sphinxes do not leave anyone indifferent. Some people like their wrinkles on their naked body, others admire their “suede” skin, others shrug their shoulders in bewilderment: what could there be to like? The lack of hair makes Sphynxes the most heat-loving breed: in cold weather it’s nice to warm up with them under a blanket, and their need for insulation opens up endless prospects for those who want to try themselves as a fashion designer of cat clothes.

Story

In 1966, in the Canadian province of Ontario, a black and white cat gave birth to a completely hairless kitten. The kitten was given the name Prune (prune in English) for his wrinkled appearance. Breeders bred Prune with other cats, hoping to get even more unusual kittens. However, the “baldness” gene turned out to be recessive, so some of Prune’s descendants were born bald, and some were born quite shaggy. Balds were recognized as a new breed and given the name “Canadian Hairless Cat”. Subsequently, someone saw in these cats a resemblance to the ancient Egyptian Sphinx. In the second half of the 1970s, new natural mutations of hairless kittens were discovered in Minnesota, America, and Toronto, Canada. Three such kittens – Epidermis, Planks and Paloma – became the founders of another “hairless” breed, the Devon Rex. Their descendants also took part in the creation and strengthening of the Sphinx breed.

Appearance

Sphynx cats are athletic and muscular medium-sized cats. They are hairless, but not completely: there is a little hair on the nose and on the back of the ears. The rest of the body is covered with thin fluff, making the skin of the sphinx suede to the touch. The ears are huge, from 5 to 7 centimeters in height. The eyes are large, wide open, and lemon-shaped. Another characteristic feature is the round “Buddha belly”, which looks as if the sphinx has just had a hearty lunch. And, of course, wrinkles, wrinkles and wrinkles. Female sphinxes weigh 3 - 4 kg, males - from 3.5 to 4.5 kg.

Character

Sphynxes are curious, intelligent and very friendly. Warm and soft to the touch, they love to sleep under the same blanket with their owners. For their passion for being the center of attention, Sphynx cats received the nickname “Velcro cat” (by analogy with Velcro). Sphynxes are happy to have guests and easily get along with other pets: they need to warm themselves up against someone! They are very thermophilic and love heated places: sunny windowsills, TVs and master's beds. Sphynxes are active, can play with toys for hours, some learn fetch. It seems that sphinxes “know” only two modes of activity: “full speed ahead” and “stop the car!” As soon as they want to take a nap, they, with the precision of a homing missile, find the warmest place in the house and there they “switch off” almost instantly. All their lives they are childishly inquisitive and very affectionate to their owners.

Care

Sphynxes do not need a comb, but due to the lack of hair that absorbs oily skin secretions, they quickly “sweat.” They need to be bathed frequently and wiped daily with a damp cloth - unless you want to get greasy stains where the Sphynx lay on upholstered furniture or in the bed. The ears also need to be cleaned regularly to remove accumulated fat. Contrary to rumors, Sphynx cats are not completely hypoallergenic. Some people who are allergic to cats do not feel it in relation to Sphynx cats, but others still experience it, albeit to a lesser extent.

Health

This breed has a high metabolism and therefore needs a lot of food. Fortunately, the gluttony of sphinxes rarely leads to overweight and obesity: everything eaten is quickly burned by the body during games and to maintain body temperature, which in sphinxes is on average 4 degrees higher than in other cats. Sphynx cats' skin is susceptible to sunburn, so they should not be allowed to stay in the open sun for long periods of time.

Character traits

They are extremely attached to their owners and practically cannot do without a person. They may have conflicts with other animals. It has been noticed that sphinxes do not particularly like communicating with cats and cats, both their own breed and those of others. Owners sometimes get the impression that sphinxes consider themselves not cats, but people. For them, procedures that ordinary cats cannot tolerate are often considered normal. For example, they love to swim and are patient and calm about cutting their nails and caring for their ears. They are also quite convenient to treat.

Of all other breeds, Sphynxes are perhaps more inclined than others to eat human food. This doesn't mean it's good for them. It’s just that such close communication with people makes itself felt and the animal gradually takes over the human habits. For example, not every feline will eat, like the Sphynx, sauerkraut, fresh tomatoes, raw potatoes, fresh peas, and so on.

Mating of Don Sphynxes

Sphinxes are characterized by early puberty. A female's first heat can occur as early as 6 months. But the animal’s body at this age is not yet fully formed for full reproduction of offspring, so Donchak dogs are bred only after two years (both cats and female cats).

To get good offspring with show characteristics, it is very important to choose the right pair for your pet. Only an experienced breeder or professional felinologist can do this correctly, so it is best to seek advice from a specialist.

For breeding, only animals that meet all breed standards are used.

When such high demands are not placed on the quality of kittens, you can choose a pair yourself. The following criteria are taken into account:

  • compliance with all breed standards, absence of flaws and defects;
  • absence of pathologies and disorders transmitted by inheritance;
  • For purebred individuals, it is necessary to have a pedigree, club card, etc.;
  • all vaccinations must be done in advance (2-3 weeks before mating);
  • one of the partners must participate in mating not for the first time (if both are inexperienced, then pregnancy may not occur);
  • the pet must be healthy and active.

A partner for mating can be found by ad

Animals purchased only for domestic keeping are not allowed to be bred at all. They must be neutered or neutered.

Nail care

To trim nails you will need to purchase a special device. Owners should carefully carry out the procedure, trying not to touch the pink edging, otherwise the cat will feel pain. A thin red vessel can be easily noticed and carefully walked around it. If blood does appear, the claws should be wiped with hydrogen peroxide. As a rule, only the tip of the nail is trimmed, leaving most of it. Sometimes cats bite off their claws themselves. Sphinxes also have this tendency.

Many owners also purchase scratching posts. They can be either horizontal or vertical. This item is selected depending on the animal’s habits. Not only kids, but also adults quickly get used to scratching posts.

Not everyone likes the Don Sphynx breed. Keeping these cats is not at all easy, because they require a lot of care and attention. This is not just a pet; Donchak dogs often become full-fledged members of the family. But such animals will never let their owners get bored; they will repay with affection and tenderness for the time spent on them.

How to breed

Usually the female gives birth very easily and quite quickly. Sphynx kittens are born without difficulty. It is recommended to help the cat get rid of the placenta, as well as wipe newborn kittens and keep them warm until the mother finishes giving birth. Sometimes the number of kittens can reach twelve. In reviews of Sphynx cats, the owners of these cats say that they open their eyes quite early and are characterized by increased activity. In kittens, you can notice a light fluff on the top of the head, which goes away after two to three months. They are more wrinkled than their parents. As they grow, the folds smooth out and remain only in the head area.

The onset of pregnancy is usually difficult to miss. The cat becomes even more affectionate and affectionate towards its owner. Closer to childbirth, the female prefers to retire. After about sixty-three days, the long-awaited birth occurs.

Reviews about the breed

Dmitry Utiugov, 35 years old, Simferopol

I used to have a negative attitude towards cats that don't have fur. We got our Sphynx named Jerry with my wife when she was pregnant with her second child. After that, my attitude towards hairless cat breeds changed dramatically. These are extremely affectionate and friendly pets that do not leave behind any fur and get along well with children and their owners.

Irina Bulgakova, 39 years old, Moscow

I bought my girl Musya from a nursery. I decided to choose a hairless cat, because... I am allergic to cat fur. Now Canadians are my favorite breed.

Mating

The owner of the male must accept the cat on his territory. First of all, he provides her with peace of mind and comfortable living conditions. Sometimes owners have to help their pets. The mating process itself lasts no more than two minutes. The fact that it has passed can be determined by the behavior of the animals. The female prefers to lie on her back and roll on the floor for a while, and the cat immediately starts licking her body.

Judging by the reviews about the Sphinx, the owners prepare for this process in advance. If the owner has decided to breed kittens, then it is highly not recommended to give the cat hormonal drugs to suppress desire. After he is convinced that everything is fine with the animal, he can look for a partner. Before meeting, the animals undergo a process of expelling worms and other parasites so that they do not infect each other. Cats also have their claws trimmed. The only thing you should not do before mating is bathe your pets, so as not to remove the specific cat aroma released by secretions.

Character of the sphinxes

Animals have sweet personalities. In addition, they are loving, sociable and intelligent.

Despite their rather unusual appearance, sphinxes have a friendly character and are the most loyal in the whole world. Every owner of such a cat will say that the pet is really very friendly. But they know how to be offended - only if a person does not pay enough attention to them.

Most owners say that such cats are a little intrusive. Although they have a complex character, sphinxes are not evil. They will never sharpen their claws on a sofa, chair or other pieces of furniture. Sphynx cats communicate well with other pets, and even more so with a small child. They will always play and run around the rooms. Therefore, we advise you to hide all fragile items, and we also recommend shortening curtains that hang to the floor and tablecloths.

Features of the species

There are three types of sphinxes: Canadian, Don and St. Petersburg. Each of them has its own characteristics. For example, the St. Petersburg Sphynx has long limbs and a strong body. He has fairly wide cheekbones on a wedge-shaped head. The chin of these cats is also quite powerful. A distinctive feature of the St. Petersburg Sphynx is its almond-shaped eyes. The Canadian ones are round. Eye color is usually blue or green. The nose of this breed is quite large. Together with slanted eyes, it is a rather original animal in appearance, which is liked by many owners. Another distinctive feature of this breed is its pointed ears.

The Don Sphynx has a fairly large size and a muscular body. He also has almond-shaped eyes and well-defined cheekbones. The forelimbs of the representative of the Don breed are quite long, and their size is almost the same as the hind limbs. The ears are large and rounded at the ends.

Canadian Sphynxes have fairly large body muscles with short stature. He has large, expressive eyes that occupy most of his muzzle. The head is also wedge-shaped and whiskers are almost completely absent. A distinctive feature is the long hind limbs, as well as very large and wide ears.

In addition, almost all three types of sphinxes presented differ from each other in skin. For example, in Donskoy it is quite elastic and has wrinkles only under the arms and on the top of the head. The St. Petersburg Sphynx has rough and elastic skin. Unlike other types, it is quite redundant. The Canadian Sphynx has the most pleasant skin. Cats of this breed are covered with velor, velvety down, which is very pleasant to the touch.

What is their character?

These are truly extraordinary animals. It seems that they have their own consciousness and intelligence. If you look into their eyes, you will immediately notice their mysterious depth. Hairless cats seem to be able to see right through your soul. They differ in a certain set of qualities, but each four-legged friend is an individual.

Curiosity

From the moment it appears in your home, familiarity with the space begins. The pet will not hide under the bed or hide in a corner. First, he will explore the living space and look into every crack.

From time to time he will cuddle up to you without leaving a single step. After a short break, he will resume his journey. Every day the baby will try to learn something new. He is attracted to everything - indoor flowers, books, slippers, scraps of paper. The Sphinx will definitely get to everything within its reach.

Lovingness

These are very affectionate representatives of the cat family. They love to rub their foreheads against their owner, expressing their trust in him. They are ready to lick your entire face, hands and ears to show their warmth towards you. Sometimes you don't even have to pet your hairless friend. He will jump onto your lap or climb onto your shoulder and start purring. At first he will follow you on your heels.

Activity

Mobility and passion for fun are another distinctive feature. If the kitten is not sleeping, then it’s time to run around the apartment, climb curtains, and jump high in order to reach the desired object. When your pet has few toys, he will find something to occupy himself with. It will bite your fingers, hunt your legs, ruffle your pant leg or sock. The energy is in full swing. Adults also love to play. They will not sit in one place for a long time.

Care

Canadian Sphynx cats are very demanding in their care. They have one big plus - the absence of hair, but at the same time this is a minus, since the skin of these hairless cats is very sensitive and requires special attention. In addition, Sphynx cats, unlike most other breeds, “sweat.”

Skin care

Sphynxes have to be bathed often, which is due to the presence of special glands that secrete a brown secretion to a greater or lesser extent. It is advisable to bathe sphinxes using special shampoos, after which the skin is lubricated with a conditioning cream, which moisturizes well and prevents flaking. After water procedures, the skin should be dried with a towel.

In between baths, to cleanse the skin of secretions, wipe it with baby wipes or a soft, damp towel. Particular attention is paid to the folds, tail and skin between the toes. On average, Sphynx cats are bathed once every three weeks. If this is not done, the skin becomes covered with a brown secretion, which remains on things and surfaces wherever the cat goes.

Eye, ear and oral hygiene

Sphynx cats do not have eyelashes, so their eyes are prone to getting dirty. They have to be wiped regularly using a weak chamomile decoction or special lotions. You cannot use cotton wool for the procedure; its fibers may remain on the cornea and cause irritation.

Large ears also get dirty much faster than other breeds, requiring cleaning once every 2 weeks. At the same time, it is undesirable to use cotton swabs; they do not allow deep cleaning of the canal and can contribute to its blockage. There are special cleansing lotions on sale that are instilled into the passage. These lotions soften the wax and are removed along with it after the animal shakes its head.

The oral cavity is not a weak point of this breed, but it is good if you can teach the kitten to use a toothbrush from an early age. Brushing helps gently remove plaque and prevents the formation of tartar. This is especially important for cats that eat “natural” food and not dry food. For good behavior during hygiene procedures, you can reward your pet with a treat. It is recommended to trim the claws regularly, cutting off only the tips. But this does not relieve the owner of the need to accustom the cat to the scratching post. A pet can straighten even a short manicure on a new sofa.
