Wellkiss brand ready-made diets for cats are sold by one of the large chain Russian pet stores. The name of the brand itself sounds quite unusual and has little to do with cats and their health: if you translate it literally, you get something like “a good kiss.”

In the range of these foods, a special place is given to products for sterilized cats and neutered cats. We decided to find out what the pros and cons of Wellkiss diets are by looking at one of the brand’s products - dry food with lamb for sterilized cats called Cat Sterilized Lamb. We bring to your attention a description and characteristics of this food based on the composition indicated on the label.

What is to the point, and what is for the sake of a nice word?

The food package looks quite stylish, there is a photo of a cute cat, a silhouette of a lamb to indicate the taste, and an indication that the food is intended for feeding sterilized cats and neutered cats from 1 to 6 years old. There are also several icons on the packaging labeled “Optimal Digestion,” “Weight Control,” “Skin and Coat Health,” and “Activity and Longevity.”

A couple of ingredients in the food do have something to do with these claims: the added L-carnitine is designed to reduce fat storage and stimulate energy metabolism, and the prebiotic inulin feeds beneficial intestinal microflora, thereby improving digestion.

But in general, these are rather marketing statements, since the manufacturer wrote on the package exactly what the owner of any cat wants to get from the finished food.

Today, products that belong to the super-premium class are manufactured by various manufacturers. As a result, a huge range of high-quality feed has formed on the market. Therefore, many cat owners experience difficulties in choosing the optimal price-quality diet for their pets.

We have compiled our own rating of companies whose products have received the most positive feedback from professional breeders, veterinarians and ordinary owners.

ProNature Holistic

The first place is occupied by the Canadian manufacturer ProNature Holistic. The main meat ingredient here is chicken. Meat is used both fresh and dehydrated. Meat components are the main source of protein.

The company produces a grain-free and grain line. At the same time, the composition never contains grains that are harmful to domestic cats, such as corn and wheat.

The composition includes antioxidants and natural preservatives, minerals and vitamins. Thanks to this, this brand of food is very nutritious and healthy. Therefore, this ready-made food has become widespread. It is sold in many pet stores.

Arden Grange

Second place in our ranking went to the Arden Grange brand. This super premium nutrition is made in the UK. Dry and wet types of food are sold on the market under this brand. The source of protein here is fish and meat ingredients.

The assortment includes a grain-free line. Arden Grange food for domestic cats does not contain grains. Natural substances are used as a preservative - a mixture of tocopherols.

In terms of popularity, Arden Grange is slightly inferior to Pronature Holistic, although its composition is also rich in minerals, vitamins and other beneficial components (for example, probiotics).

Third place was taken by another Canadian company that produces the Cimiao line. In terms of quality and composition, it is classified as super premium. This is a good food, since its recipe was developed taking into account the physiological characteristics of animals of different breeds. Therefore, both a kitten and an adult or aging pet can eat this food.

The composition of this food was developed by specialists. Thanks to this, it turned out to be balanced and consists only of high-quality ingredients.

1st Choice

In fourth place in our rating is 1st Choice food (Fest Choice), which is manufactured in Canada by PLB International Inc. Popular due to its high content of meat components. Rich in minerals and vitamins. The range includes food that is suitable for feeding young animals and adult cats.

The fifth position is occupied by German). The entire assortment here is divided into two lines: Sanabelle (“Sanabel”) and Premium (“Premium”). The first line is an elite food belonging to the super premium class. Bosch Premium is inferior in quality to Sanabelle, so it costs less.

This food is suitable for any animal, regardless of breed. The food has a high-quality and balanced composition, not slightly inferior in content to the above brands.

Sixth place in our ranking went to the Czech food manufacturer Profine (Profine) Vafo Praha sro Despite the fact that the company positions its products as super premium class, the composition does not always meet the requirements of this group.

In existing recipes, fish, meat and other meat ingredients are used as the main source of protein. Vitamin and mineral supplements and natural preservatives (tocopherol mixture) are also required in the diet.

Due to the not very high quality, such products are more affordable.

The last place in our ranking went to the Italian brand Monge (in Russian it sounds differently: “Monge”, “Mongi” or “Monge”). The manufacturing company - Monge & CSpa - produces dry and wet food.

As in all previously described foods, the main ingredient in Monge is meat. The composition here is also rich in minerals and vitamins.

Overview of the main components of Wellkiss Cat Sterilized

Component No. 1 in this food is “meat and meat derivatives (lamb 14%).” It is a source of animal protein, but what exactly is included in this mixture, other than some lamb, is completely unclear.

On the back of the package we found the mysterious phrase “cereals reduce the risk of allergies.” It is extremely doubtful that this is true. Not all cereals are hypoallergenic, and in this case, the number 2 place in the composition is occupied by the ingredient “cereals (rice 14%),” that is, a mixture of unknown grains, in which only 14% rice is present.

In addition, here we came across a mention of the presence of cellulose. Probably, this coarse and unwanted fiber is encrypted in component No. 3 “derivatives of plant origin (lecithin 0.5%, inulin 0.2%)”, since it is not reflected separately in the list of ingredients. Cellulose is a minus of the diet, since it is absolutely impossible to identify what it is actually obtained from.

As the analysis of Wellkiss Cat Sterilized Lamb shows, position No. 4 in the list of ingredients belongs to another vague mixture called “oils and fats” - it can include various plant and animal components, the quality of which leaves much to be desired.

Reviews from veterinarians

Since Mauricio cat food is not widely available, not all veterinarians have encountered it. And those who know about it also cannot give either clearly positive or negative reviews about how this food affects the health of pets.

And yet, experts do not recommend using it as the main diet. Dry or canned food for cats Mauricio can be given to your pet occasionally, when you want to diversify the cat's table.

“I can’t give a definite answer to customers’ questions about Mauricio’s food, since it appeared on our market recently, and there is no data on its constant use. But judging by the composition, I can say that it does not qualify as premium. I wouldn't recommend using it for regular feeding."

Yeast and other additives

Yeast rounds out the top five ingredients - and nothing is said about them either. In general, yeast is considered a source of B vitamins and prebiotics, but I would like to understand exactly what kind of yeast (brewer’s or baker’s) and in what state of aggregation (dry, inactivated, etc.) are added to the diet.

The manufacturer has deciphered several mineral and vitamin supplements on the label in detail - we have placed this information after the main list of ingredients.

Antioxidants are used here as a technological additive - again, it is unclear whether these are natural compounds or synthetic chemicals.

Mauricio cat food

Recently, a new cat food, Mauricio, made in the Czech Republic, appeared in Dixie stores. Whole slices in sauce or jelly are available in sterilized pouches in 85 g and 100 g packages and in tin cans weighing 415 g. There is also dry food in the form of granules, packaged in bags. Products are sold individually and in sets, and are also widely distributed through promotions. The 100 gram package is especially economical.

Wellkiss Cat Sterilized Lamb: food complaints

The main disadvantage of this product is that it is not clear exactly what it consists of. As a review of the composition of “Wellkiss” with lamb for sterilized cats showed, the basis of the food is represented by a mixture of meat products, 14% of which is lamb, in combination with a cereal mix, including 14% rice, unclear derivatives of plant origin and a mixture of some animal and plant fat

We oppose such generic ingredient names because they are completely indicative of the quality of a diet. In addition, such a non-fixed composition may change depending on the needs of the manufacturer, which negatively affects the well-being of pets.

The abundance of questions about the composition did not allow us to give this food even an average score - the Wellkiss Cat Sterilized Lamb rating was quite low.

Advantages of food and its disadvantages

The advantages of the brand include:

However, their quality is often so deplorable that it is better to save on at least natural food, if not premium food. Giving such food to sick or weakened animals will only cause harm. Mauricio dry complete food with beef. I bought it at Dixie. It also comes with other additives. Despite the Spanish-Latin name, the food is made in the Czech Republic. A promising start.

My cats live outdoors. They have free range and are not too picky about food. So why not save money? The food is very inexpensive. But I didn’t remember the exact price.

The food pellets are regular in shape. Same color. The smell is quite pleasant to my human nose.

I pour it into a bowl and see the cats’ eyes looking at me in bewilderment. I couldn't capture this moment in a photo. The food remained in the bowl. The cats categorically refused to even touch the food bowl. I tried several times to give my cats this Mauricio. Always the same reaction.

The food was eventually fed to the dogs. The dogs were not poisoned. We ate it with pleasure. The food didn't disappear. But I don’t recommend anyone to buy it. If my picky ones refused to eat it, then I can’t imagine what kind of cats would be able to eat it.

Recently, on the shelves of Dixie, I saw a new food from the same price segment as Whiskas, and decided to take one. Of course, the “premium” inscription on the bag immediately made me laugh. Judge for yourself - how much “premium” can you put in a bag that costs 18 rubles, of which at least a third is the price of the package? But people, having read that cats need to be fed premium food, may unknowingly simply buy such packages.

“Whole beef slices” can be mistakenly understood to mean whole pieces of meat, but let’s think about it. Whole slices are good, but slices “with beef”, and since beef was put in some slices, then these are clearly not whole slices. In a similar way, you can write “whole sausage” on packages, for example.

This food can be stored either in the refrigerator or without it. The food will not spoil even in the heat of +35 degrees. The food was made as promised - in Europe, namely 0 in the Czech Republic.

Now let's see what's in the composition. The main component is water. Unexpectedly, of course, I would still like something not made from water. Meat and meat by-products - this phrase, as a rule, hides low-quality raw materials, but the promised beef is only 4% - the standard composition for various kinds of whiskeys.

Next are various benefits and finally “sugar”. The last component raises many questions, since the cat does not need sugar, and if it is for taste, then cats are immune to the sweet taste. But, in principle, there is nothing criminal here - ordinary economy class food.

Persian got new food. The fellow taster sniffed the food and did not eat, and only looked questioningly, as if asking - where is the food? But street cats like this treat, so I will buy this food, but only for stray cats, but I definitely won’t buy it for my own cats, and I don’t recommend it to you either.
