Profine cat food: reviews, composition, where to buy

There are super foods for cats, and there are super-duper ones. The latter category includes super-premium food. This marking on the food packaging brings the cat food closer to professional quality and means that the developers have already taken care of the correct balance of vitamins and minerals in the food and have thought through the composition down to the smallest detail.

In this review, we will look under the microscope at the super-premium food Profine for cats and kittens.

The food is produced by the Czech company VAFO PRAHA sro, which is good because it has been supplying its products to 55 countries around the world for two decades (and not a single country has complained yet!).

62 tons of high-quality food per year - Profine cat food is worthy of attracting the attention of your pet’s taste buds.

Manufacturer and official website

Profine is a Czech brand of ready-made animal feed. The manufacturer and the official website (https://www.profinepet.com/) present their products concisely, to the point. This is the first plus, because to choose a coma you need specifics, and not “odes of praise” from the manufacturer.

Profine is presented as a safe, balanced and “almost” natural food. To check how truthful the manufacturer’s presentation is, you need to consider the composition and assortment in detail.

Profine feed range

The Profine food range includes clearly specialized diets for dogs of different sizes and ages. The manufacturer guarantees that each diet is adapted to the basic needs of pets.

The diets of all lines include:

  • Meat.
  • Vegetables.
  • Seafood - fish, shrimp.
  • Herbs.

Not a bad start, the basic composition is acceptable for the premium class and above. It’s interesting that the manufacturer, as if by chance, “bypasses” the topic of cereals, but does not position the food as grain-free.

Puppy and Junior

Puppy and Junior is a series of food for puppies and growing dogs. The range of products includes the following foods:

  • PUPPY CHICKEN & POTATOES (chicken and potatoes) – for small breed puppies up to one year old.
  • PUPPY LAMB & POTATOES (lamb and potatoes) – for puppies of medium breeds weighing up to 30 kg, under 2 years of age.
  • JUNIOR LARGE CHICKEN & POTATOES (chicken and potatoes) and JUNIOR LARGE SALMON & POTATOES (salmon and potatoes) – for large breed puppies under 2 years of age, for teenage dogs of medium and large breeds.

What are the differences between puppy diets? Since the body is constantly growing, and the temperament of puppies is a priori more active, there is an increased need for proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. It is extremely important that the food is properly digested and not too fatty.

Reviews of Profine dry food

Lesya writes:

Our cat has been eating this food for three years now, everything is fine. True, in addition, once a day, instead of dry food, we give wet food (of different brands). I like that the food has a normal composition and the price is inexpensive. Among the shortcomings, I noticed that sometimes there are batches with granules that are too dry; the cat eats them reluctantly unless they are soaked.

Olya writes:

I bought Profine Cat Derma food and Brit Premium Cat Adult Salmon for my cat. The second one eats with gusto, but the first one simply goes crazy. Although quite a bit is enough for a serving, the kitty eats up and goes to rest.

Alexandra writes:

We have already tried all the flavors from this manufacturer, the cat ate everything with pleasure. Sometimes he eats enough, sometimes he asks for more, but in general everything is no problem. Digestion is also fine, although at first I was worried, since this was the first time I was switching a cat from natural food to dry food.

Composition analysis

Let's look at the composition of Profine food using the example of the daily diet for adult dogs ADULT CHICKEN & POTATOES. Advantages offered by the manufacturer:

  • High protein content - chicken meat.
  • Contains probiotics - have a positive effect on digestion.
  • Contains seaweed - has a positive effect on metabolism and immunity.
  • High seafood content.
  • The composition includes a complex of beneficial herbs.

Compound:

  • Chicken Meat (40%) – 20% dehydrated chicken and 20% meat and bone meal is the main source of protein.
  • Corn is a cereal that is not mentioned anywhere other than its composition. In addition, corn is the worst source of carbohydrates and grain component; it is not digestible by dogs, and is a filler in food.
  • Potatoes (20%) are another source of carbohydrates, more precisely, starch.
  • Chicken fat (8%) is a source of animal fats, vitamins, fatty acids and amino acids. The fat is preserved with tocopherol – vitamin E.
  • Apples are a source of coarse fiber and vitamins.
  • Yeast – has a beneficial effect on digestion. Source of vitamins.
  • Hydrolyzed chicken liver is a rich source of vitamins, microelements and vegetable fats.
  • Shrimp (1.5%) is a source of microelements. In premium and super premium food, the term “shrimp” usually means a mixture of small crustaceans (meal).
  • Salmon oil (1%) is a source of fatty amino acids, Omega 3 and Omega 6.
  • Seaweed (0.5%) is a natural source of trace elements and an immunostimulant.
  • Glucosamine sulfate (0.02%) and Chondroitin sulfate (0.012%) are chondoprotectors.
  • Chicory root is a source of probiotics.
  • Blend of herbs – fennel, basil, sage, yucca schidigera extract (0.01%)

Profine Adult Cat cat food – review, reviews, recommendations

Profine Adult Cat is a French cat food positioned as a super-premium class. It means that:

  • Most cat food is much worse in composition than Profine;
  • the quality of the food is high enough to serve as a complete diet for the animal, without harm to its health, moreover, with tangible benefits;
  • At the same time, there are a number of foods of much higher quality and useful, one might say, elite (holistic), to which Profine Adult Cat cannot be classified.

Among super-premium food, Profine is not the best (there are also more serious ones, for example, 1st Choice), but quite decent. However, many felinologists tend to dispute the high status of this food and classify it only as premium. Why? Let's take a closer look at it.

The general indicators - the content of protein, fat and ash - are remarkably balanced, there is nothing to blame the manufacturer for here (30-33% protein, 7% ash, classic figures). By the way, the percentage of fat in this food is noticeably lower than in most others, which is good news. Meat products come first on the list of ingredients. This means that the main part of the food is meat, and not grain or other fillers, since the ingredients on the package are written in descending order. The quality of meat products is relatively good - chicken meal (dried and ground chicken meat, most likely with the addition of bones and tendons) and chicken by-products (much worse than chicken meal - by “by-products” feed manufacturers rarely mean liver/kidneys/stomachs; usually these are - skin, feathers, bones, paws and heads). In fact, the use of chicken by-products already casts doubt on the “super-premium” nature of Profine - usually good feeds specifically indicate “No by-products”

Go ahead. Among all the grains used in cat food, corn is the cheapest and most harmful. Alas, this is exactly what is used in Profine. At the same time, the food also contains rice, a cereal whose quality and benefits for the cat are undoubtedly higher. However, rice without corn would look much better. To the manufacturer’s credit, the list of ingredients includes chicken and fish oil - valuable supplements containing large amounts of vitamins and acids necessary to maintain cat health - including omega-3 acids, which prevent the development of urolithiasis.

The food also contains dried apple, a source of pectin, an important substance that normalizes cholesterol and blood sugar levels; complex of vitamins and minerals; taurine; Yucca extract, which removes bad odors.

We would like to emphasize that there are no chemicals, attractants, or any other harmful artificial additives in Profine. Practically, the only undesirable ingredients were corn and chicken by-products - there are not many disadvantages in relation to all the advantages of this cat food. To be fair, it should be noted that the food is poor in vegetables, and there are not many vitamin supplements - perhaps only the most necessary. This food is not suitable for the prevention of various diseases - it is better to choose it for a healthy animal that is not predisposed to KSD and other similar ailments.

  • Contains everything a cat needs for proper nutrition and a healthy life - the ingredients are mostly of decent quality;

  • There are practically no vegetables in the composition, a source of fiber necessary for digestion.

Advantages and disadvantages of Profine feed

Having examined the composition, we can identify the main advantages and disadvantages of Profine feed. Let's start with the pros:

  • The food contains only animal proteins.
  • Good vitamin and mineral supplement.
  • Natural preservatives are very good.
  • Affordable price.

Minuses:

  • All diets contain corn.
  • Almost all food for adult dogs has a high fat content.
  • There are unclear wording in the composition.

Regarding the transparency of wording, it is important to understand the following - the more honest the manufacturer is with the buyer, the more “subject-specific” the composition is. Using the example of the composition that we looked at below. “Chicken flour” is a product that differs by class, with the first class being healthy and the third class being dangerous.

Opinions and reviews of veterinarians

Profin cat food has quite positive reviews. The price-quality ratio makes people buy VAFO PRAHA sro products, even considering the fact that they are not particularly popular on the Russian market. However, attentive owners noticed that the food had been on sale before, only under different packaging. Of course, people who leave reviews on the Internet are generally dissatisfied with the content of corn as one of the significant fillers. The manufacturer cannot be justified in this; such an oversight really does occur. However, this fact does not affect consumption in any way - the animals gobble it up with an enviable appetite. This is especially true for wet canned food, which has won its fans around the world. Treats are ideal for rewarding your pet for some success in, for example, training. Not every breeder likes the shape of the pellets - the flattened round pellets with a pleasant smell are not particularly similar to regular food. Nevertheless, the pleasant smell and mineral-rich composition does not make you doubt the choice: cats will eat. There are also cases of food refusal. This is due to the individual characteristics of animals. For example, they may be too spoiled in childhood, incapable of accepting something new, and so on. In such cases, it is worth paying attention to the character and behavior of the pet, rather than blaming the food and the company that produces it.
