The owner noticed that the cat has a special interest in all kinds of boxes and other containers: the funny thing is that the size of the container is not important to the animal - it can fit in the smallest box. The love for such unusual vacation spots added tenderness to the ginger cat in the eyes of its owners. Hoshiko the cat loves to play with new toys, preferably something simple and original: tennis balls, shoelaces, tree branches. In addition to his obsession with boxes and vases, the family's furry friend has a slightly skittish personality: every walk into the world is like going into space to us. The red-golden beauty also doesn’t like it when things are out of place - everything must be in order!
How a cat account attracts advertisers
After 50 thousand subscribers, it became possible to make publications using barter - for example, this is how we advertised U-pet carrying backpacks. And after 100 thousand, it was already possible, in addition to the advertised product, to receive a monetary reward.
Basically, we advertise everything related to cats: Whiskas food, various toys, designer cat houses. Among the customers were social networks, watch brands, and the online advertising platform Avito.
We try to support young start-up companies selling products for cats, including on Kickstarter, by advertising on our site for free. We also support cat shelters, now especially the Moscow Murkosha shelter.

We try to advertise no more than once a week. The main criterion is that the product fits into the account. Some advertisers do not require anything special, some need to advertise according to a certain scenario, some come up with the text of the publication themselves, somewhere a competition is held or a code is given for a discount on purchase.
Hoshiko's prices range from $20 to $1,500, but more often it turns out to be $500 and even $300 if you order several posts. The final amount depends on many factors - the number of subscribers, the ability to bargain, the capabilities and desires of the customer. We no longer work for barter. But if we like the product, we can make it cheaper.
What breed is the cat Hoshiko
Of course, every antics of the funny furry was captured in the photo. It was the photographs that introduced the world to the handsome man who looked so much like Puss in Boots from the cartoon “Shrek.” Just look into those bottomless green eyes - they will soften even the stony heart!
As soon as the cat Hoshiko received an account on Instagram, subscribers immediately began to appear, the number of which today is 923 thousand. Of course, I immediately became interested in what breed this bright feline beauty was.
The popular pet breed is called the Scottish Straight Shorthair, or Scottish Straight. He does not have the usual floppy ears, and many people like the round shape of his muzzle. The color of the animal is called black golden ticked.
How to make money on souvenirs with a cat
When our followers started asking for Hoshiko products, we opened a store based on the threadless.com service (a community of T-shirt designers where the best T-shirts go on sale. - Note “About Business” ). Our first T-shirt designs were made by an art director we knew.

It turned out beautifully, but the cartoon Hoshiko was a poor seller. Then another designer did an interesting Photoshop treatment, and the T-shirts began to sell better. We share profits with one designer, paying 25%, and we made publications for another designer advertising his account.

Then we asked a studio from Singapore to design us a soft toy, a pillow and calendars. We receive 20% of the sales price, and they themselves handle production, sales and shipping.

The main customers are from the USA and Europe, women 18-35 years old. There are not many sales - 20−50 pieces. per month, almost all of them are T-shirts.

Hoshiko also participated as a character in a computer game. We received royalties from the sale - $400-800.
We submitted our videos for licensing to foreign copyright management agencies. Representing us, they offered videos to TV channels and Internet platforms. Such agencies contact us themselves - for example, JukinMedia, Storyful. We received a royalty from this, usually 60% of the profit. You can get $100-500 from one video.
And recently we started using Cameo (a service where you can buy a personalized video from a star, for example, a video greeting). There the user can order a video greeting from Hoshiko. We only registered a week ago and haven’t even advertised yet, but we’ve already had one order. The cost of congratulations is $100: we have $75 left, the rest goes to the service.

We are still not putting much effort into getting Hoshiko more subscribers and advertisers. The main increase in subscribers occurs when our videos are posted by a large group on Facebook. For example, one received 31 million views and 288 thousand comments. We also write comments to other cat bloggers, but I wouldn’t call it promotion.
