Origin story
In 1988, an unusual baby was born to a couple of Thai cats .
It must be said that both parents were not excellent representatives of their breed. The father was an ordinary Thai cat of the old Siamese type with several creases on the tail, the Thai mother had another defect - a curled tail.
The kitten that was born was not only miniature, but also had a short tail . The owner of the cats, Elena Krasnichenko, decided that this species should not disappear without a trace, and began breeding a new breed.
6 years later, at a seminar of expert felinologists, the Scythian-Tai-Toy-Dong breed standard was preliminarily approved.
In the name, experts honored the memory of the Scythians who once inhabited these lands, included the breed of the parents (Thai), noted the toy appearance of the animal (toy) and the river on which the city stands (Rostov-on-Don), in which the first representative of the breed was born.
In America, where the first pair of Scythians, Pashka and Mickey, went in 2004, the breed was given a different name, Toybob..
In Russia, tie-dons had almost completely disappeared by 2006. The second wave of interest began thanks to Ekaterinburg breeders, who scrupulously continued to work on the breed.
For family reasons, E. Krasnichenko did not participate in the promotion of the breed she created for many years, but in 2014 she triumphantly returned to the ring, demonstrating at an exhibition in Krasnodar animals that fully met the preliminary standard of the breed. All cats earned positive marks from the judges, and 7 out of 8 received “Best” .
On August 24 of the same year, the experimental breed was officially registered in the FARUS system.

Appearance
Many owners remember with nostalgia how their pets were babies, this charming appearance of kittens, naive eyes, playfulness and surprise from everything they saw. Imagine for a second that your pet will not grow up to become a big, cheeky bandit with the look of a ruler of the world, because Toy Bob is a cat who will remain a baby for life.
An adult Skif-tay-don looks like a 3-5 month old teenager of a “standard” cat; the animal’s weight ranges from 2 kilograms. Particularly rare and expensive kittens will not even cross the “kilogram mark”. But that’s not all, if you look at the photo of Toy Bob, you will understand that this is a “child” with big charming eyes.
Despite its miniature size, Toy Bob is a well-proportioned, strong and muscular cat. The body of the animal corresponds to the bobtail standard - shortened and compact. Slenderness, thin bones or an elongated body in the manner of new-format Siamese cats are considered a fault. The front legs are slightly shorter than the hind legs, which makes the Skif-tay-don's gait a little unsteady. The brush is oval, collected and strong, with well-developed claws.
A distinctive feature in the body structure is the tail, the length of which does not exceed 7 centimeters. Creases and deformations of the vertebrae are acceptable; the tail can have either a straight shape or be bent into a spiral, bubo or tassel. Toy Bob's face resembles a Thai cat:
- The head is wide, wedge-shaped with neat curves, cheekbones and cheeks are not expressed.
- The eyes are large, expressive, set close to the bridge of the nose. The upper eyelid is almond-shaped, the lower is rounded.
- The nose is straight and wide. The transition from nose to forehead is smooth, without bending.
- The ears are wide, straight and close set. The shape is sharp or round. The auricle is open.
Pet health
Skif Tai Don is a real long-liver . 15 years is not the limit for him. Cats remain active throughout their lives. Due to the youth of the breed, it is premature to talk about the presence of genetic diseases. Until now, not a single case of Scythian illness has been recorded with anything more serious than a cold .
Ty Dons require annual vaccinations, deworming, and flea and tick treatment. Considering the youth of the breed and the lack of statistical data on the susceptibility to any diseases, it would not be superfluous to undergo a preventive examination by a veterinarian once a year.
Description of the breed
The body of the Scythian is miniature, compact, dense and muscular.
Wide chest, strong paws of medium length. Wide wedge-shaped head, short muzzle. The forehead is slightly convex and full. Rounded cheekbones, strong chin.
The nose and ears are of medium length . The tips of the ears are slightly rounded. Expressive round eyes of rich blue color.
A short tail with creases should have at least 2-3 vertebrae . The tail can be straight or curled into a bob.
The coat has a thick undercoat , dense, and adheres to the body of the animal. Color: seal point. A small amount of white spots on the paws is allowed (in a show animal this would be considered a fault).
A narrow head , long hair, pointed ears, malocclusion, an overly fragile or large build, a weak chin are among the significant disadvantages of the breed.
Appearance and standards
A distinctive feature of the skiff tie-bob is its miniature appearance. An adult is the size of a six-month-old kitten. According to standards, the weight of the animal should not exceed 2 kg, the minimum is 0.8 kg. The most valuable are the kilogram specimens. Sexual dimorphism is not clearly expressed, but females are usually smaller .
- Large expressive eyes are blue, rarely green or honey. The transition from the forehead to the nose is clearly visible; its back can be either straight or convex. The head is wedge-shaped, cheekbones are pronounced, the chin is rounded, the neck is strong and short. The muzzle is round.
- The ears are medium in size, set high, slightly tilted forward.
- The tail is short, maximum length - 7 cm. Different shapes are allowed - straight, in the form of a ball, spiral, with creases.
- The coat color is caromelanic, the color point color predominates - the light shade dominates, the dark areas are concentrated near the tail, muzzle and ears.
- The body is compact, square in shape, dense, with developed muscles. The back is slightly arched, the chest is well developed, the paws are of medium size with rounded pads. The hind limbs are slightly longer than the front ones.
It is this unusual appearance that has become the reason for the growing popularity of furry creatures. Few people can resist a miniature cat with clear blue eyes.

Character
Scythian Tai Don is a loyal, good-natured animal . They are very brave, and sometimes their excessive courage can lead to sad consequences. Tai-don is not afraid of heights, fire, big dogs, or loud noises . You can only own a Skiff if you have time to look after it and are able to create a safe space for it while you are away.
Scythians get along well with children and pets . It is necessary to teach all family members to treat their little friend with care. The breed is distinguished by a high level of intelligence and persistence. Tai-dong will achieve what he wants by all available means.
INTERESTING! This is a breed of silent people. You will not hear a drawn-out meow from the Tay-Dong. But when they are amused, they make funny sounds reminiscent of a dog yapping.
Care and maintenance
The owners do not have any difficulties in maintaining Skif. The only thing that needs to be done is to provide your pet with a place to express his active nature. A gaming complex and many toys, including interactive ones, are necessary.
Bob's coat never gets tangled and does not need brushing or bathing. Although the pet is not afraid of water and even loves it. In summer you can pour it into a large container. The cat will be happy to swim and play with toys in it.
Ears, eyes and nails require the usual care for all breeds as needed.

Scythian Tai Don has a good appetite . An adult cat needs to be fed in portions, 3 times a day. A bowl of clean water should be available at all times.

It will significantly save you time both in terms of caring for the animal and in subsequent cleaning of the house.
For natural and regular grinding of claws, a kitten must be accustomed to a scratching post from childhood.
Interesting! Scythians love water treatments. But it is not recommended to bathe the animal often. 1-2 times a year will be enough.
Character and behavior at home
The Scythian Tai Don cat is distinguished by its activity and love of outdoor games, but at the same time, if the owner wants to pick him up and stroke him, he will be ready to accept affection as much as necessary - the baby Scythian will happily sit on his lap for all that is allocated for him time.

Cats of this breed are friendly to new people who appear on their territory. Many breeders note that the Scythian Toy Boba is somewhat similar in behavior to dogs. First of all, this is shown by their readiness for training and the ease with which these cats are able to learn several commands at once. In addition, they love to run after thrown objects and bring them back in their teeth.
Friendly and playful cats are adored by children
Skif Tai Don will make friends with every family member, but he especially likes children. This fluffy pet will happily play with the kids and will calmly endure all their cuddles. He will allow you to carry him in your arms, allow you to stroke him for a long time, wrap him up, swaddle him, etc.
