Advantages and disadvantages of Hill's food
Pros of Hill's food:
- availability;
- acceptable price;
- rich assortment;
- carefully selected composition.
The negative points include:
- low fiber content in feed;
- a large number of plant components, including vegetable protein, which can affect weight gain and the health of the pet;
- lack of composition percentage on the packaging.
Feed composition overview
The composition of medicinal cat food has its own characteristics. Tripelphosphates dissolve in slightly acidic urine. The diet is aimed at reducing pH levels. The recommended acidity level is 6-6.5.
Hill's dry ration for dissolving tripel phosphates consists of the following ingredients:
- poultry in the form of meal;
- crushed rice;
- animal fat;
- corn gluten meal in flour form;
- vegetable oil;
- whole egg, dry crushed;
- potassium chloride;
- protein hydrolyzate;
- calcium sulfate;
- DL-methionine (substance for acidifying urine);
- taurine;
- vitamins and microelements.
Hills s\d dry diet includes the following nutrients:
- protein - 31.9%;
- fat - 24.7%;
- moisture - 7.5%;
- fiber - 0.8%;
- ash - 6%;
- calcium - 0.8%;
- phosphorus - 0.66%;
- magnesium - 0.06%;
- sodium - 0.37%.
Protein content is reduced. This eliminates the burden on the kidneys.
Cats should drink 3 times more water than they eat dry food. However, it is not always possible to force the animal to consume the required amount of fluid. For light-drinking cats and kittens, Hills s\d canned food is more suitable, as it contains up to 80% moisture.
Advantages and disadvantages
The label “urinari” on industrial diets means concern for the health of the urinary system. Such feeds have both advantages and disadvantages.
The diet is prescribed by a veterinarian based on test results and examination of the pet. For struvite urolithiasis, medicinal cat food for urolithiasis dissolves tumors in the kidneys and bladder in at least 14 days.
The industrial diet Hills s\d has the following advantages:
- balanced composition;
- assistance in dissolving tripelphosphates;
- the presence of a substance that acidifies urine;
- no artificial preservatives;
- taste appeal;
- presence of natural meat.
The downside of the food is that the manufacturer did not indicate the percentage of ingredients. The presence of corn gluten is a disadvantage. Some animals are allergic to this component.

This food was prescribed to us after an exacerbation of urolithiasis in a cat. We have been buying it for several years now, the cat eats it with great pleasure, and the attacks of the disease have subsided. The optimal size of the granules, the taste with chicken is what the cat likes best.
Victoria writes:
My cat is 14 years old. And 4 years ago, serious kidney problems began. I’ll say right away that the problems were not related to kidney stones (struvite). The pelvis in the kidneys began to collapse. Treatment at the veterinary clinic did not give lasting results. I just started surfing the Internet and found this food. The cat only eats it. His kidneys don't bother him anymore.
Ekaterina writes:
Excellent food! My picky eater eats it just fine. She was diagnosed with diabetes 2 months ago and immediately started feeding the cat this food + RK Diabetic liquid food. I was injected with insulin for 10 days and that’s it, my sugar returned to normal, I think that the food played a role in the treatment regimen.

How and when to feed a puppy?
It is very important to feed your puppy a diet that suits his needs and at regular intervals. To grow properly and become a healthy dog, your puppy requires adequate levels of nutrients. It is extremely important for your pet's health to regularly monitor its physical condition and adjust its daily food intake as needed. Simple recommendations from s™ Science Plan™ Puppy Healthy Development™, this should be done gradually over 7 days. Mix the old food with the new one, constantly increasing the proportion of the latter until you completely switch to Science Plan. Then your pet can fully enjoy the taste and benefits of the superior nutrition that Hill's™ Science PlanTM Puppy Healthy Development™ provides.
You and Your Veterinarian Your veterinarian is your best source of information regarding your puppy's health and well-being. Encourage him to regularly monitor your puppy's weight, as achieving and maintaining an ideal weight not only reduces the risk of developing certain diseases, but also ensures a long, healthy and energetic life for your pet.
Talk to your veterinarian about which of these three feeding methods is best for your pet:
Free access to food: food is available to the puppy at any time.
Time-restricted feeding: Food is only available to the puppy for a limited time. Restricted feeding: food is given to the animal in portions at a certain fixed time every day.
Water Your puppy should always have plenty of fresh water. Not being able to quench your thirst for a long period of time will harm your pet's health.
Treats Although it can be difficult to resist the temptation to feed your pet a tasty morsel from the table, remember that such treats do not provide the correct balance of nutrients. Practice moderation when it comes to treats—too much can lead to weight gain or nutrient imbalances.
Next step
As your puppy gets older, his nutritional needs will change. He will need to be switched to an adult dog diet that will provide essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals in the correct ratios appropriate for his breed size and age. Hill's™ Science Plan™ diets provide exactly what you need. Products for different stages of life allow you to maintain the health of your dog, regardless of breed and lifestyle.

Hill's canned cat food - reviews
Hill's wet cat food is widely available and sold in many pet stores. Many people have already bought it for their pets, so there are quite a lot of reviews on the Internet. We've collected a few of these reviews below.
Customer Reviews
Ksenia writes:
The cat was diagnosed with pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas). We recommended Prescription Diet Feline I/D Gastrointestinal Health Chicken pate. Price 120 rubles per jar.
It was recommended to first give the cat pate as regular food. If he doesn’t want to, mix the pate with boiled water (not boiling water) to a puree and offer it to the cat. When mixed with water, the pate enhances the aroma, which may attract the cat to eat. If this didn’t work, then put the diluted pate into a syringe and go into battle with the cat.
The pate smells like pate. At least take it and eat it yourself. Maybe the cat will want it then. Initially, the cat did not approach the pate. So I tried mixing it with water, as the vet recommended. It didn't work again. The next step was to syringe feed. Only after this the cat began to eat on his own.
Feeding a cat through a syringe was still entertaining, but the cat did not resist, and even took the syringe into his mouth. Combined with water, the pate looks like porridge. But due to the mixture with water, the aroma becomes more intense.
In general, this wet food restored the cat’s appetite, but we decided not to use it as a complete diet, despite the fact that it is dietary. I recommend this food, but only as prescribed by a veterinarian; you should not self-medicate! Healthy pets to all!
Nastya writes:
Today I will tell you about Hills pouch with chicken in sauce. This food is sold in all pet stores. The product is not in short supply. The worst thing is the price. Before the dollar jump, it cost about 55-60 rubles. Now the price reaches as much as 100 rubles. But most often you will find it in stores for 80 rubles apiece.
The manufacturer recommends giving this bag to an adult cat 2-4 times. We multiply 80 by 4 and get that wet food for our pet will cost 320 rubles per day. It depends on you, but it seems expensive to me. It's a shame when the cat doesn't eat it yet. And this is exactly our case.
On the back of the pouch there is a composition of the product. Chicken here is only 32%. And the cost of the product is as if it were 100% chicken. The composition is quite normal, nothing harmful or chemical. But the manufacturer is cunning; if you look closely, he did not give us any specifics about the composition, general words and nothing more.
These pieces in the sauce look very appetizing, but the smell is disgusting. Here's an experiment. The best way to tell about the composition is a cat. My Bonya is very demanding, and if everything is really bad she won’t eat.
The cat approached the bowl and risked tasting its lunch. But I didn’t really eat it. What she liked best was the sauce. The photo shows what remains. Bonya didn’t go to the bowl again.
After half an hour, the aroma of this spider began to wander throughout the apartment. The smell was disgusting, so I had to throw it all away. I won't buy this food again. We eat it poorly, it is expensive and the composition is not very good.
Leonid writes:
Hill's Prescription Diet c/d Multicare Urinary Care. Good medicinal food, I feed my cat after suffering from urolithiasis. There are no complaints, the disease no longer manifests itself.
I buy 2 types with chicken and salmon. The pates look exactly the same, but I hope for a good composition and that different types will diversify the cat’s diet.
