How to catch and tame a wild kitten, cat or cat

Steps

Part 1 Preparing for training

  1. 1 Decide on your reward.
    If you want your cat to come to you when you call, you need to offer her some kind of reward. Unlike dogs, cats do not always strive to please their owner. If your pet is not confident that he will be rewarded for correct behavior, he may refuse training.
  2. It is recommended to use food as a reward. The vast majority of cats agree to do what is required of them in return for their favorite treat. Choose something different from your daily food. Buy treats from a pet store or offer your pet some deli meat or tuna. Over time, you will discover what your cat likes.
  3. Although most cats are primarily attracted to food, some are not as interested in it. If your cat is cool with treats, reward her with a toy, her favorite brush, or just pet her the way she likes.
  4. 2 Select a command.
    Come up with some original exclamation that will signal the animal to come to you. Choose something that is rarely used in everyday speech. For example, a cat's name may not be a good choice if you also use it on other occasions. This can lead to confusion. Come up with some original phrase or sound that you can use to call the cat to you.
  5. Simple sounds will also work. For example, you can simply say “kiss-kiss-kiss!” in a high tone. You can also click your tongue, make squeaking sounds, or try whistling.
  6. You can choose a word or phrase that you rarely use. It could be something like “Come to me!”, “Treat!” or “Tuna!”
  7. 3 Reinforce the connection between the sound and the reward.
    Once you have chosen a characteristic sound and an appropriate reward, begin to develop a connection between the two in your animal. If you want your cat to respond to a certain sound, you need to ensure that it associates it with something positive. Call your cat to you and give her a treat, toy, or pet her. If you use treats as rewards, train before your main meal.

Part 2 Developing a Habit

  1. 1 Call the cat and reward it.
    Once you choose the appropriate reward, you can begin training. Try calling your pet. If the cat responds and comes to you, reward it immediately.
  2. Stand about a meter away from the animal and call it. In this case, it is useful to show the cat the reward awaiting her. For example, you can rustle a bag of cat food or show your cat her favorite toy.
  3. As soon as your pet approaches you, reward him. Give your cat a treat or toy, pet her, brush her fur, or give her some other reward.
  4. Don't be surprised if your cat doesn't come near you at first. It may take some time for the animal to learn to respond to your call and come to you. Be patient. Continue calling the cat until she understands what is required of her.
  5. 2 Increase the distance.
    Once the cat starts approaching you from a short distance, start increasing it. Step back another meter or so and call the animal again. Then try calling your pet from another room. You can also try calling your cat when she is busy with something. Remember to teach your cat to respond and approach you in a variety of situations. Vary distances and situations to reinforce correct behavior.
  6. 3 Try training before feeding.
    As soon as your cat begins to understand commands, begin training. If you use food as a reward, the animal's motivation will increase if it is hungry. Try to exercise about 15 minutes before eating.
  7. 4 Reward your cat immediately.
    Don't delay the moment of reward, otherwise your pet will not be able to associate the reward with the fact that he came to you. Offer your cat a reward as soon as it approaches you. Animals live in the present moment. If you want your cat to understand why she was rewarded, reward her immediately.
  8. 5 Do short workouts.
    Try to train your pet daily. Cats are independent animals and are not capable of long attention spans, so don't drag out your training. Do 1-2 short workouts of 5 minutes every day.
  9. 6 Train your pet in different areas of the house.
    When the cat begins to respond to the call every time and come to you in the kitchen or in another room in which you started training, move to another place and continue training there. Eventually the animal will learn to respond to the sound of your voice.
  10. 7 Gradually wean your cat away from food rewards.
    When the animal learns to respond to the call and come to you, replace food with affection: pet the cat, scratch it behind the ear, or show other signs of attention. Rewarding with treats too often can cause your pet to gain excess weight. You can also call your cat to you in various situations, and you won't always have a treat with you.
  11. When your cat begins to respond regularly to your call, reduce the treats to three out of four times at first, then give food every other time, then every third time, and finally treat her only occasionally.
  12. Continue to reward your cat in other ways than food. Eventually the cat will respond to the call and come to you even without a treat.

Part 3 Overcoming pitfalls

  1. 1 If possible, start training at a young age.
    Kittens are more trainable than adult cats, so it's best to start training while your cat is still young. However, it is not uncommon for older cats to be adopted. It's okay - adult cats can also be trained, it just takes longer.
  2. 2 Don't punish your pet.
    Don't punish your cat for being difficult to train, even if she rarely comes to you or doesn't respond to your commands at all. Cats do not respond well to punishment.

How to catch a wild cat?

Catching a feral cat is not an easy task. As soon as a person approaches her, she will probably try to run away. Therefore, to catch it, you will need a trap, inside of which bait is laid out - treats. You can even make it from an ordinary carrier. Special devices are designed so that the door slams shut when the cat steps on a special platform. A soft bedding or terry towel is placed inside.

Another method of catching a cat takes longer. The animal is fed every day at a certain time until trust in the person arises.

You can catch a cat using simple designs

Attention! After the cat is trapped, the first thing you should try to do is take it to a veterinary clinic for a check. This will help avoid infection of other pets, as well as the catcher himself.

If there are no infectious diseases, then upon returning home the animal is bathed, given anti-worm medication, and after a few days treated for fleas.

In the next 14 days, they are quarantined, which will help avoid infecting other animals. Another goal is the adaptation of the new resident. To do this, choose an isolated room to which other pets have no access.

How to win over a cat

They do not associate punishment with bad behavior and simply think that they are being wronged for no reason. Punishing your pet can cause stress and depression. As a result, the cat will respond even worse to your commands.

  • 3 Don't withhold reward from your cat if she responds too slowly when called.
    It will take some time for the animal to get used to the command. You should not withhold rewards if your cat does not respond to a command immediately. Your pet will have difficulty at first until he understands what is required of him. You should constantly reward your cat for correct behavior, which will help reinforce positive associations. Reward your cat even when it comes to you late.
  • 4 Don't use the command in negative situations.
    You should not call your cat to you in situations where the command may be associated with something negative. Bad associations will make the animal less willing to approach you.
  • If you are going to take your cat to the vet or give it unpleasant medicine, do not call it, but go to it yourself.
  • Tray training

    This problem is faced not only by those who picked up a kitten on the street. Animal sellers often claim that babies are toilet trained. But often this is not true. We have to get down to business ourselves and teach the baby one of the most necessary skills for living in an apartment.

    Important! Moving or a new place of residence is stressful for an animal. Therefore, after such events, small and even adult individuals may experience problems going to the toilet. But after they get used to it, normal urination patterns will be restored.

    During the process of training a pet, it is advisable that the kitten is always under the supervision of its owners. Observation will minimize the likelihood of puddles appearing in inappropriate places. Every successful trip to the litter tray requires praise and petting.

    A successful trip to the litter box should be encouraged

    Instructions for kittens

    The tray should have a small side, since a small kitten will not be able to climb into a high toilet. Use clean water to rinse the container. If a fragrance is used, the smell should be subtle. To make the task easier, you need to soak a piece of cloth or paper in the urine of this kitten and put it in the tray. Then the baby will follow his scent. To toilet train a kitten, you can use special products that are sold in pet stores.

    Tool for training a cat to use the tray

    Determining that a kitten wants to go to the toilet is quite simple: it starts to fidget and loses its calm. At this point it needs to be moved to the tray. To better make it clear that an unfamiliar object is intended for bowel movements, you can scratch the surface of the tray with your finger. When urination or bowel movements begin, talk to the kitten in a gentle tone, thereby encouraging its correct actions.

    The baby should be carried to the tray every time after waking up or eating. Having planted it in the tray, you need to make sure that it makes raking movements in the filler.

    Attention! You can read more about the types of cat litter here.

    Instructions for an adult cat

    Problems may arise with an older cat. Here are the rules that will help you change your habits. The best place for the tray is a bathroom, toilet room, or insulated balcony. But no matter where the owner places the toilet, it is necessary to ensure constant access to it for the pet, especially if he is often left at home alone.

    It is more difficult to train an adult cat to use a litter box.

    If the cat lived outside before, then it is accustomed to the open space. Therefore, the tray must be large enough. Veterinarians recommend trays with high sides for adult cats so that the litter does not spill on the floor when it is raked after bowel movements or bladder. An alternative option is a toilet house.

    Closed toilet house

    This is interesting. A common myth is that females are easier to toilet train. However, they are more capricious and choose the place for the toilet themselves.

    Usually, animals themselves intuitively understand the purpose of the structure with filler. But if this does not happen, you need to make it clear where to relieve yourself. There are several options. When the cat chooses a place to defecate, you need to quickly place a tray under it, stroke it and move away. It may be that the animal will run away. But it needs to be returned to its place and the action repeated until the process comes to its logical conclusion.

    Attention! For an outdoor cat, for the first time, soil is poured instead of litter - it smells familiar.

    For wild cats, you can try a lawn toilet

    The smell of her urine will also guide your cat. To do this, as in the case of a kitten, a piece of cloth or paper soaked in urine is thrown into the tray.

    Reasons for refusing a tray

    Refusal to relieve yourself in a specified place can be provoked not only by the stubbornness of the animal, but also by other reasons:

    • health problems;
    • inconvenient tray format or size;
    • choosing the wrong place;
    • untimely cleaning of the toilet;
    • the need to share a tray with another pet.

    If the owner tries, the cat will sooner or later get used to its new toilet and stop shitting anywhere.

    Each pet gets a separate tray

    Surface treatment products for urine odor

    But in case of failure, you cannot scold, much less beat, your pet - he may get scared, and such a measure will not bring any benefit. The area itself is treated with anti-urine odor products.

    If a kitten makes a puddle, it should not be beaten or scolded.

    Table 1. Home remedies for urine odor.

    Product nameNote
    Weak solution of potassium permanganateIt can stain the surface; before use, carry out a test on an inconspicuous area of the surface of the floor, furniture, etc.
    Vinegar diluted with water in a ratio of 1 to 3Does not stain surfaces

    Aqueous solution of iodine (10 drops per 1 liter of water)Carefully! Paints surfaces
    Vodka (spray from a spray bottle)Cats can't stand the smell of vodka

    The industry produces a lot of products to remove the smell of cat urine. This:

    • Urine-off Cat & Kitten or Multi-Pet;
    • Arm&Hammer;
    • DezoSan;
    • OdorGone;
    • Simple Solution Stain and Odor Remover and others.

    Warnings

    • Don't use dairy products as a reward. Although many people think that cats love milk and sour cream, they actually have a hard time digesting lactose, which is found in dairy products. These foods can cause indigestion in your cat.

    The best way to treat a cat is to treat it with respect! If you respect your cat, you will get along great with her. Part of respecting your cat is petting it when it wants petting and leaving it alone when it wants it.

    When you touch a cat, you should do so taking into account how it approached you. If her head is facing you, stroke her head. If her back is turned towards you, run your hand along her tail. Touch your cat gently. Your hand should slide in the direction the fur is lying. For the most part, cats do not like rough affection.

    If you are not sure what to do, let your cat tell you.

    How to properly pick up a cat

    The kitten is positioned with its tail facing itself. Then they take it by the skin on the back of the neck, near the base of the neck and ears. The grip force should be moderate, not very strong. The animal is lifted and placed on the lap. If he allows, then you can stroke him, while talking affectionately and calmly.

    Hand position when lifting an adult cat

    Attention! The cat must not be lifted from the front!

    You can tame a cat using the combing procedure. This is also a hygiene measure that keeps the coat and skin in good condition.

    It happens that a cat is afraid of heights. Then, picking him up, place one palm under the armpits and hold the hind limbs with the other. Thanks to such support, the cat will not feel weightless, and the fear will pass.

    How to call a cat correctly

    Reach out your hand to the cat, but do not touch it. If she stays put or retreats, leave her alone. If she reaches out and nuzzles you, run your hand over her cheek or the top of her head. If your cat rolls over onto its back, be alert! Many cats will fake bite you and scratch you with their back paws if you scratch their belly. Since they enjoy this game so much, they will ask you to play it as much as possible.

    Many cats do not like to be petted constantly. This is why they will purr happily for a minute or two and then suddenly turn around and bite you for no apparent reason. Watch for any slight changes in your cat's posture. Tail flicks, slight tension - all this can be a sign that she has had enough of stroking. Pet them for no more than a minute and then stop. Many cats will happily lie on your lap for a long time, but will not be able to tolerate stroking for long.

    Don't betray your cat!

    All relationships, both human and animal, are based on trust. If you undermine this trust, you will lose immeasurably. In few areas is this rule as clear as in relationships with cats. Cats that have been raised with love and care and have never been teased, abandoned, hurt or abused will usually feel comfortable in human hands. They don't know that people can hurt. They have never experienced this and cannot even imagine it.

    But once they know that this can happen, everything will be completely different. Betrayal can mean a variety of actions: disturbing cats when they are sleeping, holding them too tightly for too long, teasing them. People often pass off such actions as jokes. And indeed there are people who find all this funny, but in fact it is not at all true. The most obvious type of betrayal is hitting, throwing a cat, or otherwise hurting it. There are no reasons that could justify such actions.

    The positive aspect of this problem is that cats usually learn to trust people again if given time, patience and love, and a complete stop to the abuse.

    Important! Provide your cat with shelter. The following rule should be established in the house: if the cat has retired to its shelter, no one should disturb it there. This place should be a zone of guaranteed safety for her. It is much easier to provide her with a refuge that she can easily reach than to allow her to choose her own refuge, which will inevitably happen. Place a box in the back of your closet and put your old sweater in it - often this is quite enough. But, regardless of whether your cat uses the shelter you provide for her or chooses it for herself, respect her decision. Never go into her hiding place or try to get her out unless you have no other choice - for example, if there is a fire in the house, if the cat escaped while bathing or ate something poisonous, or if in twenty minutes you must be at the veterinarian's appointment, and it takes half an hour to get there. In all other cases, leave the cat alone! If she can trust her refuge, then she will be more likely to venture out.

    How not to adopt a cat

    Don't pick up the cat by the scruff! Mother cats carry their kittens by the scruff of the neck, but they only do this with very small kittens and mainly, I believe, because they don't have fingered hands like we do and have to walk on all fours. . But what is good for a small kitten will not be at all correct and merciful towards an adult animal. As a cat becomes an adult, its body becomes heavier. Adult cats are not at all suited to being lifted up in this way, and to do so is to cause inconvenience to them and to act inhumanely towards them.

    Do not pick up your cat by its front paws! No matter how conveniently placed the front paws are, they are not at all designed to serve as handles with which you can lift a cat. If you lift your cat by grabbing its front paws, you may harm it and also frighten it. A frightened cat may react to such treatment in the most undesirable way, and I am sure that such a reaction will make a stronger impression on you than reading these lines.

    Do not grab the cat by the middle of the body! Children are especially prone to using this method to pick up a cat, and this is due to a combination of their great desire and too small hands. But some adults do this too. Very few cats enjoy it.

    How to prevent your cat from scratching you

    Don't play the cat pouncing game on your hand too often. This encourages her to play aggressive games with people. Don't undermine your cat's trust in you! Don't turn petting into a wrestling match, don't hit the cat or yell at it - all this increases its distrust of you.

    Exercise your cat! Cats, especially young ones, need to have an outlet for their energetic energy and predatory instincts.

    Train your cat! Teaching your cat basic rules of behavior and tricks will not only help build a good relationship between you and strengthen your bond, but will also provide stimulation for your cat's mental development.

    How to handle a cat

    Most cats have excellent memories and are not at all inclined to take mistreatment with humor. The main condition that should be observed when you pick up a cat is support. You need to support her whole body and then you won't hurt her. The easiest way is to grab the cat's hind legs with one hand and hold the cat's chest with the other hand just behind the front legs. This way you will be able to securely support the cat's body at both ends, and this is a perfectly acceptable method for most cats. If a cat feels secure, it is unlikely that it will try to free itself from an unpleasant situation by using its claws. Some cats love to be held close to your shoulder, as if you would carry them around like a child. Carrying a cat on your shoulder is a lot of fun, but I always do it with caution because moving quickly can cause the cat to dig its claws into the shoulder to maintain balance. Some cats are just great at balancing on their shoulder without using their claws, but you'll have to ask your cat to do this. And finally, some cats calmly accept and even love being rocked in your arms, like babies. Not every cat likes this vulnerable position, but if the cat trusts you, then she will be delighted with this.

    How to train an adult cat to be handled

    It is more difficult to accustom an adult cat to hands.
    It is more difficult to accustom an adult cat to hands than a small kitten. Perhaps the new family member has been subjected to violence or does not know at all what the caress and warmth of human hands are. With patience, you can teach even an adult animal the skill of being held in the arms of its owner.

    During the first few days, it is recommended to pet your pet until it leaves you. This way he will gradually get used to the hands. Then use treats to lure your cat onto your lap.

    A cat shits anywhere: reasons and what to do

    As soon as the animal jumps onto your lap, pet it and give it food. This way it will learn to sit in your arms. Never hold it forcibly, let go if you feel resistance.

    How to improve your relationship with your cat

    Since ancient times, cats have become the most popular pets, despite their selfish and capricious attitude towards their owners. Recently, they have become especially popular due to the widespread distribution of cute photos and videos of them. The love for cats is growing, and they already live in almost every home. However, many owners find it difficult to interact with their pets. There are some basic recommendations that will help improve your relationship with your cat.

    and make each other happy every day.

    Attention

    No matter how self-sufficient a cat may seem, it needs attention. Perhaps she makes such a distant appearance to attract him. Therefore, you should take the initiative and pet your pet or contact it. Even if his reciprocity is unnoticeable, it is still there, and over time it will turn into unexpected gratitude.

    It happens that cats get into the house from the street or after harsh treatment, in which case the animal can dodge and avoid affection and even show aggression. You need to understand that her trust has been betrayed, and of course, this is a natural reaction of any living creature, especially with such heightened sensitivity. Such a cat needs to be given even more attention in order to heal its psychological wounds from insults caused by other people. Only in this case can you count on peace and love in the home.

    If you respond to her fear and anger with mutual negative feelings, then this will not be able to continue for long, and the animal will either leave on its own or get sick, or careless owners will decide to get rid of it. Therefore, you need to make responsible decisions in advance, since this is not a toy, but a living being with a soul and feelings. And if a person is not ready to make concessions and show sincere care, then it is better to choose another pet.

    What not to do when catching and taming a cat

    When catching a cat on the street, do not use bags, blankets, sacks or other similar items. A frightened animal can seriously bite and injure a person, which is dangerous for humans, since a cat can be a carrier of the rabies virus.

    In order for an animal to quickly turn into a pet, you need to know what not to do during the period of its socialization, namely:

    • tame a cat if you do not plan to leave it in the house forever;
    • contact the animal before visiting the veterinarian to avoid possible diseases;
    • look into his eyes: animals perceive such a look as a threat;
    • handle wild cats with your bare hands - you need to protect yourself from bites and scratches by wearing thick clothes with long sleeves and gloves;
    • overfeed the animal - the amount of food should be increased gradually;
    • picking up a cat when he doesn’t want to - this will slow down the socialization of the animal;
    • show aggression towards the animal.

    How to pet a cat

    When a cat is in the mood for contact with a person, it begs for affection and to be stroked. And this process has its own characteristics.

    • You need to stroke with sincere feelings, since these animals feel everything and can bite or scratch if you try to deceive.
    • A cat's ears have a special shape that amplifies sound, so touching them is the same as putting a bucket on a person's head and knocking on it. You need to iron it carefully, without touching your ears.
    • Of course, the most common fact is that you should not stroke a cat against the grain. This might make her angry.
    • It is also important to avoid damaged areas, such as scratches from other animals. A defensive reaction will immediately work.

    What if you whistle?

    Some people on the street attract attention by whistling. This makes sense: whistling sounds stand out from the rest. Cats are no exception, wonderfully “snatching” such whistling consonants as “S”, “Z” or “C”. “Sh” also falls into this category, which sounds more like “S” when repeated quickly.

    Scientists consider this to be a pattern, since a cat’s hearing perceives these overtones close to the frequency characteristics of small rodents. Nature itself “sharpened” their ears to whistlers in order to provide food for animals of this species, and people unknowingly took advantage of this to call cats to themselves.

    This is the principle used to call cats in the following countries:

    • England - “puss-puss-puss”;
    • Afghanistan - “pish-pish-pish”;
    • Hungary – “tsits-tsits-tsits” (from the word “kitten” - “tsitsa”);
    • Holland – “push-push-push”;
    • Israel - ps-ps-ps;
    • Serbia – “matz-matz-matz”;
    • Tatarstan - “pes-pes-pes”;
    • Japan - “shu-shu-shu”;
    • Poland – “pshe-pshe-pshe”;
    • Norway - “dogs - dogs - dogs”;
    • Armenia – “psho-psho-psho”;
    • Tunisia – “bash-bash-bash”.

    How to call a cat?..

    In confirmation of the latter, they often bring caught prey to their owners without touching it to eat it.

    Therefore, in order to win over a cat, you need to create conditions for it to simulate hunting. For example, buy toys or make a simple bow on a string yourself. It is important to remember safety, because at such moments the pet is not aware of what and with what force he is biting, and can damage his teeth on a hard object or cut himself on a thin thread.

    Cats need companionship. Moreover, the tone and mood with which the words are spoken matters. After all, cats perceive them, and not the meaning of spoken words.

    If you treat your pet with respect and love, then he will never scratch, bite, go to the toilet in the wrong places, or harm in other ways. This behavior only occurs in response. Therefore, you need to look for the reasons in the owner, because he has full responsibility for the cat.

    How to win the love of a cat, or Cats and 5 languages l

    San Sanych Protsenko

    In my childhood and youth, I lived with my parents and we had a cat, an ordinary “Central Russian domestic” breed with a character that is now fashionable to call “bitchy.” All the 10 years that we lived together, I was tormented by the question - why does the cat love my father, but only allows me to stroke itself, and even then not always.

    The final answer was formed after studying G. Chapman’s book “5 Love Languages” and 2 years of communication with a cat in my own family of 3 people (father, mother and daughter).

    Captain evidence suggests that cats are not dogs, whose love for their owner is almost genetically based; a cat’s love is not easy to win – and its choice is not always clear.

    The author of the book “5 Love Languages” postulates that harmonious relationships are built on 5 aspects of interaction, conventionally called “love languages”, and each has priority ones, and there are secondary ones. If you address the object of your love in the right language in the right proportions, then reciprocal love is practically guaranteed to you - everything is simple, like everything American - do it once, do it twice, and enjoy the result.

    I propose to consider how this scheme works on cats.

    Language first. Acts of service.

    “By acts of service I mean doing those things that your spouse desires. You look for a way to please her by serving her, express your love by doing something for him."

    The most important act of service for a cat is cleaning its litter box; cats are very clean creatures and therefore are very sensitive to their “toilet”.

    How to teach a cat to come to you

    My cat is so spoiled that after relieving herself, she runs to me and meows for me to clean up immediately, closely watching the cleaning process. Perhaps this is one of the most important languages for communicating with a cat; I can’t think of other examples of the “Act of Service.”

    Language is second. Physical touch.

    “It has long been known that physical touch is one of the ways to convey emotional love. Numerous studies in the field of child development have concluded that young children who were carried, hugged and kissed were emotionally healthier than those who were deprived of physical contact for long periods of time.”

    In this aspect, cats are great specialists - there is a well-known theory that cats even learned to purr in the process of communicating with humans; wild cats do not purr. This is a simple and mutually pleasant language for communicating with a cat, the main thing here is not to overdo it - cats often like to be alone, and it is advisable to pet the cat when she wants it, and not you)

    The third language. Quality time.

    “By quality time, I mean time when you give a person your undivided attention.”

    Cats, especially those living indoors, need movement and can also get bored. Any game with her can be useful and exciting - simple “cat and mouse” with a piece of paper, a rag or a string will bring her genuine joy, and even adult cats sometimes like to fool around like kittens or “hunt” you by jumping out of ambush. The best form of play, which my cat came up with herself, is very common among dogs - she brings me her dirty rag mouse, I throw it and the cat, without the “fetch” command, runs after it and brings it back.

    The fourth language. Words of approval.

    “One way to express love emotionally is to use words of encouragement. Solomon, the author of the Hebrew wisdom books, wrote: “The tongue has the power of life and death.”

    Cats do not need words of approval as much as dogs, but over time they get used to it and begin to love their owner's voice. My cat, for example, when I start talking on the phone, comes running and starts cuddling and purring - she seems to like my voice. To check how successful you are in mastering this language, just try calling the cat from another room - if it comes (often with some delay) - you are on the right track.

    The fifth language. Present.

    I have the impression that cats are indifferent to gifts - and what can you give a cat? Only regular feeding somewhat resembles this love language, and even then practice shows that feeding a cat alone will not replace the previous four love languages.

    Love cats, they are one of the most beautiful and mysterious creatures on Earth!

    The secret is the desire to learn. Both dogs and cats learn new things easily. If in childhood they perceive everything only as is characteristic of their relatives, then in adulthood they can already be guided by the acquired knowledge about their forced neighbor.

    A dog who has ever been scratched by a cat standing on its hind legs will forever remember that for cats this is a signal of attack. And the cat will not shy away from the dog’s raised paw: after all, this is just an invitation to play.

    But good, friendly relations between cats and dogs are not established immediately, sometimes it takes years. The owner can play a huge role in this development, who, knowing the characters of his pets, must influence them at the right moment.

    To make the relationship between Manka and Mukhtar as painless as possible, it is important to remember the following rules:

    — Before pushing a dog and a cat nose to nose, let them sniff some of the enemy’s things (leash, bedding, bowl), or simply lead them to the room where the “opponent” was recently located.

    — Don’t let the cat touch the dog’s favorite toy, and, in turn, don’t let him near the cat’s house. All this will be done in time, but for now such actions will be perceived as nothing other than an attack and impudence.
