British shorthair cat, golden tabby color, is divided into several subspecies:

Ticked color

Marble color

Spotted color

Striped color

Tabby colors:

  • British ticked (similar to a chinchilla, only darker on the back);
  • British spotted (leopard);
  • British tabby;
  • British marble.

BRITISH GOLDEN TABBY CATS: TYPES OF COLOR

British golden tabby cats have a basic color of gold, but the pattern can be made in different coat colors. The colors of British golden tabby cats are encoded with the letter “y” (gold), which is added after the main color of the color.

British Golden Tabby can be of the following types:

  • black gold ticked/spotted/striped/marbled BRI ny 25/24/23/22;
  • blue gold black ticked/spotted/striped/marbled BRI ay 25/24/23/22;
  • chocolate golden ticked/spotted/striped/marbled BRI by 25/24/23/22;
  • golden color points ticked/spotted/striped/marbled BRI 25/24/23/22.

In practice, you can find black, chocolate and blue golden tabby cats. The rest exist only in theory, but perhaps someday in the future we will be able to see them at exhibitions.

Sometimes, indeed, you can find a kitten of a color, for example, “lilac gold”, but if you look closely, you will notice that the eye color is by no means green, which is required by the breed standard, which means this is a defect, and further breeding of such kittens is prohibited. Perhaps, breeders in experimental matings hope to obtain precious colors that are still unknown in practice, but, alas, when mating cats with different eye colors, as a rule, the entire litter is rejected at once, since both yellow and green eyes deteriorate.

Diet preparation

You can feed your chinchilla with industrial food and natural products. When choosing finished products, you need to choose types of dry and wet food that are intended for the “British”.

If the owner chooses a natural diet, it should contain the following products:

  • lean raw meat: rabbit, veal, turkey;
  • boiled offal: kidneys, liver, heart;
  • fermented milk products of minimal or medium fat content;
  • boiled sea fish;
  • quail eggs (maximum 2 times a week);
  • boiled vegetables: cabbage, zucchini, carrots;
  • porridge.

Products that negatively affect coat color: chicken eggs, milk, butter. The animal should be fed in small portions up to 3 times a day (kittens - up to 6 times a day). Leftover food must be removed.

BRITISH GOLDEN TABBY: COLOR STANDARD

The British golden tabby color, regardless of the pattern on the coat, must have the following elements in the color (the exception is the ticked color - it has no pattern):

  • the letter "M" on the forehead;
  • “necklaces” on the chest;
  • stripes on the paws;
  • tail rings;
  • one or two rows of spots on the belly;
  • a contrasting pattern on the back is required;
  • a light spot on each ear on the outside;
  • eyeliner and nose to match the main color.

Golden British Tabby colors are based on a bright, muted yellow shade - just like real gold. Spots or specks of gray color are rejected.

The eye color of a British golden tabby cat can only be green. Eye color takes a long time to develop and “blooms” completely only by 2-3 years.

The beauty of British cats in this color carries both an external aristocracy and a slightly wild, predatory appearance.

Features of care

Rules and recommendations for caring for British chinchilla cats:

  1. The coat should be brushed at least 2 times a week. First, the comb should be combed along the growth line of the hairs, then in the opposite direction. Regular coat care will help prevent the appearance of mats. In addition, it is an excellent massage for your pet's skin.
  2. Bathing is necessary, but not often, since chinchillas do not like water too much. If there is a need to tidy up dirty fur, it is better to use dry shampoos. The recommended frequency of bathing is no more than once every 4 months.
  3. Ears should be carefully examined at least once every 2 weeks. If dark plaque is found in the ear canals, it should be carefully removed with a cotton swab soaked in a special solution for ears.
  4. Eye care should be regular and thorough. "British" people have a tendency to excessive lacrimation. Therefore, it is important to prevent clots of mucus from appearing in the corners of the eyes. Every day in the morning they should be wiped with a cotton pad soaked in a decoction of chamomile or calendula. For hygienic eye treatment, you can use diluted boric acid and ordinary boiled water. If minor suppuration appears, tetracycline ointment should be used.
  5. Nails should be carefully trimmed every 2 weeks using special scissors. It is recommended to purchase a scratching post for your pet so that he can remove the keratinized parts of the claws himself.
  6. Teeth should be brushed with a special toothpaste at least once a week.
  7. Kittens quickly learn to use a litter box, which must be selected depending on the weight and size of the animal. You can choose any filler.

Chinchillas tend to be overweight, so they need regular exercise.

If your pet is taught to use a leash from an early age, it can be walked outside. It is important to regularly treat the fur with special preparations against fleas and ticks. To provide the necessary load, it is recommended to purchase special gaming centers.

BRITISH KITTENS AND ADULT GOLDEN TABBY CATS

British golden tabby kittens can only be born from parents of this color or carriers of this color. A British golden tabby/tabby kitten should have a fairly contrasting pattern from birth. It must be remembered that over time, the color of British tabby cats “erodes” as the kitten grows, so, for example, a tabby can turn into a spotted color. The completely golden tabby color of British cats develops by the age of one year.

Character of the Abyssinian cat

The character of the Abyssinian cat is almost ideal. Abyssinians are extremely active, playful and affectionate. They easily get along with other pets and adapt to life in a city apartment. Cats of this breed are not difficult to raise, but they are very sociable and require a lot of attention. They are “taciturn” and do not scream even during estrus. Abyssinians are extremely aristocratic and elegant, they have innate grace, so they captivate at first sight. Once you “fall in love” with this breed, you will remain a fan forever.
