Sometimes in our publications we come across one “specific” piece of advice: “To calm your cat, use a calming spray.” What is it actually needed for? Cats, like us humans, can be very anxious and even stressed. The reasons for this are very different. Stress can also be triggered by moving to another apartment, the arrival of a new family member, or even a litter tray not being cleaned out on time. There are also nervous, easily excitable cats - this is their natural temperament.
What is the principle of the soothing spray? You know that cats release their own “scents” - pheromones. We don’t feel or catch them in any way; pheromones are a kind of chemical communicator for furry creatures. Products offered by a number of well-known manufacturers imitate the so-called “happiness pheromones”. The intended effect is as follows: the cat smells a familiar, pleasant “aroma” nearby and, as a rule, quickly calms down; At the same time, behavioral problems should also be minimized. The spray bottle, of course, contains artificially synthesized pheromones, but cats mistake them for their own!
Each manufacturer has its own secret. The most popular pheromones (called F3) are facial pheromones. We know that cats rub their furry faces against us for a reason: they leave their unique “smells” to secure ownership - to “mark”. By the way, cats leave their pheromones not only on their owners. So, we often see that cats mark furniture or other objects in exactly the same way. It’s like making a note: I’ve been here, everything here is already familiar to me. Familiar means safe. Pheromones are released by special glands located in the mouth, chin, cheeks and forehead.

Do calming sprays actually help? While preparing this publication, we visited a number of specialized forums for cat lovers. There are several dozen positive responses, the owners reported that the miracle spray really works. But, to be honest, not everyone is delighted. As for individual “research” and “experiments,” they were, as a rule, funded by product manufacturers, and therefore could not claim objectivity. We cannot stop you from buying these bottles. If they are released, if someone finds their work effective, and finally, if you have extra money, then please. But we advise you to follow a reliable, time-tested path. That is, to begin with, it would be a good idea to establish the root cause of behavioral problems (stress) in your pet and eliminate it. To exclude purely medical aspects of the occurrence of behavioral disorders, for which it would be a good idea to undergo an examination by a veterinarian. And who knows - maybe no “calming miracle spray” will be needed.

Using “Sharp Cat” drops does not cause any difficulties. The manufacturer calls it extremely important:
- restricting access to the drug for children;
- attention to careful application;
- timely cleaning of the product without leaving marks on the floor and other surfaces in the house.

If the baby peed in the wrong place, the floor must be thoroughly washed and treated with a repellent.
It is also important to remove contaminated litter in a timely manner - preferably after each visit to the cat. Or use one that “locks” liquid well.
Don't forget that cats rely on smell. If you need to train an animal to walk on the net, then you need to lightly spray the tray with a spray. But you shouldn’t be zealous, since an overly active aroma will only scare away the animal . You can follow the standard procedure: treat the paper with the product and place it on the grid.
