Instructions for use

The instructions indicate that the specifics of the use of Caforsen for dogs and the dose directly depend on the dosage form.

Injection

It is allowed to administer sterile liquid intramuscularly or subcutaneously. The dose is calculated based on the pet's weight. For every kilogram of weight you need to measure 0.1 ml of the drug. Injections are given once a day. The duration of treatment usually varies from 10 to 21 days. If necessary, the course is repeated after a short break.

When administering the medicine, it is important to follow all the rules of asepsis. Use sterile syringes or pre-boiled needles. It is not recommended to skip medication, as this may lead to a decrease in the therapeutic effect. If missed, treatment should be resumed according to the previously prescribed regimen as soon as possible. There is no need to double the dose.

Pills

When using tablets, the dose is calculated as follows:

  • small breed dogs and puppies will need one tablet;
  • for pets of medium breeds you should take 2 tablets;
  • For large animals, the dose should be increased to 3 tablets.

The daily dose is given once a day. For the best therapeutic effect, it is recommended to give the drug 1 hour before meals. In this case, all mineral components will be absorbed with maximum benefit for the body.

The drug can be given in this form of release in various ways:

  1. Mix the tablets with a small amount of food (minced meat, chicken or other treat) and offer it to your dog. For small pets, you can crumble them first. Make sure that the animal completely eats the offered “treat”, since reducing the dose may lead to a decrease in effectiveness.
  2. If your dog refuses to eat tablets mixed with food, open his mouth and place them on the back of his tongue. After this, keep the pet's head raised and stroke it from top to bottom, causing reflex swallowing in the pet.
  3. If forced administration of the drug is difficult for small dogs and puppies. The tablet must be crushed and mixed with a small amount of clean water, and then inserted into the mouth using a syringe without a needle.

The duration of treatment is usually 3-4 weeks. Depending on the condition of the animal, a second course of treatment may be prescribed.

Contraindications and side effects

The only contraindication for the use of Caforsen for dogs is individual intolerance to the components. If allergic reactions occur, it is necessary to stop taking the drug and look for medications with a different composition.

The medicine does not cause side effects. In case of intolerance, an allergic reaction may occur. Its symptoms may be:

  • redness and itching;
  • rashes and other skin problems;
  • anxiety or apathy;
  • disorders of the gastrointestinal tract (diarrhea, vomiting, nausea).

If such symptoms occur, stop using the medication. The animal usually does not need special treatment, and the symptoms that appear go away on their own. In rare cases, antihistamines are required. In any case, it is better to consult a doctor.

The instructions indicate that Caforsen does not cause unwanted reactions in dogs in case of overdose, but you should still adhere to the recommended doses.

Storage rules and safety measures

Closed bottles of solution and tablets should be stored at a temperature of 0 to 30˚C. It is important that the drug is kept away from sunlight, heat sources, food and feed. Children and animals should not have access to it.

Once opened, the solution in the bottle is only valid for 21 days. After the expiration date, it is strictly forbidden to use the drug.

When working with Caforsen, general rules and precautions must be observed. After contact with the medicine, wash your hands with soap.

Dosage

The amount of the drug is determined by the body weight of the animal and the method of application. The main difference between injections and taking drops or tablets is that the active substances begin to act faster due to direct entry into the blood; injections are made under the skin or intramuscularly once a day. The course of treatment ranges from 14 to 21 days, if necessary, make a short interval and repeat it.

The dosage of Caforsen for a cat is 0.1 ml of solution per 1 kg of weight. The injection is given with a disposable sterile syringe in compliance with all sanitation and hygiene standards.

The same standards are relevant for other small animals: martens, rabbits, ferrets, dwarf and small breed dogs. For large animals (cows, horses), the volume of medication is calculated at 5 ml per kg of body weight, and for calves and foals – 2-5 ml/kg.

If it is difficult to give injections at home, they can be replaced by taking pills. In this case, the course length remains the same - up to 3 weeks. A single dose of Caforsen is 1 tablet per day. The medicine can be taken separately from feeding or together with food; this order does not affect the effectiveness of the medicine.

Rodents are prescribed from ¼ tablet (for hamsters, guinea pigs) to a whole tablet (marten, chinchilla). The cat norm is relevant for small breeds of dogs . Medium and large ones are given 2 and 3 tablets, respectively.

For cats while feeding their offspring, the use of the drug Caforsen is allowed no earlier than the seventh day after birth.
