Quad for cats

The French-made vaccine “Quadricat” prevents infection of cats with dangerous viral diseases. Since not only street animals, but also pets can become infected, veterinarians strongly recommend injecting the drug according to the plan. Thanks to timely vaccination, the animal acquires strong immunity to the virus, which can last for 12 months.

Composition and release form

The Quadricat vaccine is available in 1 ml glass bottles.

The vaccine contains two components, which are mixed during use:

  1. Liquid vaccine Korifelin, which consists of an oil solution of the glycoprotein fraction of feline herpesvirus and purified feline calicivirus antigen.
  2. Lyophilized Rabiff-Feliniff vaccine, consisting of a mixture of attenuated feline panleukopenia virus with inactivated rabies virus.

These vaccine components are placed in glass bottles of 1 ml (which is 1 dose). The bottles are hermetically sealed with rubber stoppers and rolled with aluminum caps. Each bottle has a label that contains the necessary information: name of the vaccine, name of the manufacturer, trademark, method of administration, volume, serial number and expiration date.

Important. The Corifelin vaccine can be packaged in sealed glass syringes of 1 ml.

The vaccine preparation is packaged in cardboard boxes:

  • 50 bottles of Rabiffa vaccine - Feliniff and Corifelin;
  • 10 plastic packages, each containing one bottle with the Rabiff-Feliniffa vaccine and one syringe with the Corifelin vaccine.

Each package contains an annotation.

Composition and effect on the cat’s body

The quadricate includes 2 components that are mixed together to create an injection emulsion:

  • 1) The dry component - rabiffa-feliniffa - looks like a white crumbly mass.
  • 2) The liquid component is corefilin - an oily milky solution.

The components are packaged in 1 dose in hermetically sealed bottles and mixed immediately before use.

The Quadricat vaccine is harmless and forms immunity to the pathogens of rabies, panleukopenia, and respiratory virus 14-21 days after administration. A vaccinated cat will be protected from infection for at least 12 months.

Vaccine against rabies infection

You can save an animal from rabies only through timely vaccination. Therefore, cat owners understand that rabies vaccination is a guarantee of the health of not only the pet, but also themselves.

If the cat is routinely vaccinated with Quadricat, then you can forget about rabies. After all, the vaccine provides immune protection for your furry friend for a year.

The Quadricat vaccine protects cats from the rabies virus.

Prevention of respiratory viruses in cats

Viruses of herpes and calcivirus, which are classified as respiratory, can even enter the body of a domestic cat, since they are carried not only by sick animals, but by people (the infection enters the house on our shoes and clothes).

Under the influence of viruses, inflammation of the tonsils, laryngeal region and internal mucous membranes develops. Conjunctivitis also often appears. If the process drags on, ulcerations may appear in the mouth and stomach. In the first few days after infection, you may notice symptoms such as fever and weakness. If the kitten is not vaccinated, the disease may become chronic, which will take a long and difficult time to treat.

Since Quadricat contains the glycoprotein fraction of herpesvirus and calcivirus, after vaccination the cat develops a natural immune response to these diseases. This is precisely the advantage of this vaccine over traditional vaccinations with weakened viruses.

General provisions

The vaccine against panleukopenia, respiratory viruses and feline rabies “Quadricat” consists of two components (vaccines) , which are mixed directly upon application:

  • lyophilized vaccine "Rabiffa-Feliniffa", which is a mixture of attenuated feline panleukopenia virus with inactivated rabies virus. In appearance, it is a dry, homogeneous white mass in the form of a tablet.
  • liquid vaccine "Corifelin", which is an oil solution of the glycoprotein fraction of feline herpesvirus with purified feline calicivirus antigen. In appearance, it is an oily liquid of a milky white color.

The components of the Quadricat vaccine (Rabiffa-Feliniffa and Corifelin vaccines) are packaged in glass bottles of 1 ml (1 dose). The Korifelin vaccine can be packaged in glass syringes of 1 ml (1 dose). The bottles are sealed with rubber stoppers and rolled with aluminum caps. Each bottle (syringe) is equipped with a label indicating: the name of the manufacturer and its trademark, the name of the vaccine, its volume, method of administration, batch number, expiration date.

The vaccine is packaged in cardboard boxes:

— 50 bottles each of the Corifelin and Rabiffa-Feliniffa vaccines; — 10 plastic packages, each containing one syringe with the Corifelin vaccine and one bottle with the Rabiffa-Feliniffa vaccine.

Each box includes instructions on how to use the vaccine.

A label is applied to cardboard boxes that indicate: the name and trademark of the manufacturer, the name of the vaccine, its volume, method of administration, batch number, expiration date, “for animals.” The drug is stored at a temperature of 2 to 8 ° C in a dry, dark place. Under the specified storage conditions, the shelf life of the drug is 24 months from the date of manufacture. Vials (syringes) with broken closures, mold, mechanical impurities, or those that have been frozen are discarded and disinfected

Biological properties of the vaccine

The Quadriket vaccine causes the production of specific antibodies against panleukopenia, respiratory viruses and rabies in vaccinated cats. The vaccine is harmless and areactogenic.

Immunity is formed 14-21 days after a single vaccination. Duration of immunity is at least 12 months.

Procedure for using the vaccine

The “Quadricat” vaccine is used to prevent panleukopenia, respiratory viruses and rabies in cats starting from 3 months of age.

Only healthy animals free from helminths are vaccinated.

When vaccinating, it is necessary to follow the rules of asepsis and antiseptics and use only sterile materials and instruments for injection. Before vaccination, prepare a mixture by mixing the lyophilized Rabiffa-Feliniffa vaccine with the liquid Corifelin vaccine, for which the liquid vaccine is drawn up with a sterile syringe, pierced with a needle, injected into the bottle with the lyophilized vaccine and shaken thoroughly. The lyophilized vaccine is resuspended and a uniform suspension of the “Quadricat” vaccine is formed, which must be used immediately.

When using the liquid Korifelin vaccine in syringes, it is directly injected into a vial with the lyophilized Rabiffa-Feliniffa vaccine. The “Quadricat” vaccine is administered in a dose of 1 ml (1 dose) subcutaneously into the scapula area or intramuscularly into the thigh area, regardless of the weight and breed of cats.

A quickly disappearing swelling may sometimes appear at the injection site. In exceptional cases, an anaphylactic reaction is possible. In this case, symptomatic treatment is carried out.

Revaccination of cats is carried out after 1 year at the same dose.

Vaccine against panleukopenia

Panleukopenia is a serious disease that leads to the death of kittens in 60% of cases. You can become infected with the virus at any time, since it is resistant to external factors. The carrier is not only a sick animal, but also any objects with which the cat has been in contact. When a virus enters the body, it immediately begins its harmful effects. The cat begins to vomit, develop fever, and develop enteritis, which is accompanied by severe diarrhea. Treating an animal is difficult. For this purpose, strong medications and vitamins are prescribed to support the immune system.

The Quadricat vaccine effectively protects the animal from panleukopenia.

It is much easier to prevent such a disease. Before vaccinating with Quadricat, you need to be sure that the cat is completely healthy. It is worth paying attention to the presence of worms. After vaccination, your kitten will be protected. And even if infection occurs, the disease will be mild.

Instructions for use

The vaccine is used from the age of 3 months of the kitten. Veterinarians remind that they only vaccinate a completely healthy individual that has undergone preliminary deworming. During the procedure, you must follow antiseptic rules and use only sterile materials and instruments. Before the vaccination is done, the vaccine itself is prepared by mixing a suspension of Rabiff-Felinif with an oily solution of corefilin. According to the official instructions, the resulting finished drug “Quadricat” must be used immediately; it cannot be stored for a long time. A single dose is 1 ml, it is injected subcutaneously into the scapular area or intramuscularly into the thigh. The dosage is not affected by weight and age. Revaccination is carried out once a year. The instructions for use must be strictly followed.

Vaccination with the drug "Quadricat"

Many cat owners carry out vaccinations themselves. But to avoid side effects, it is still better to contact a veterinary clinic. Before vaccination, the doctor will examine the animal; if there are no indications for canceling vaccination, then he will begin work.

The Rabiffa-Feliniffa vaccine is mixed with the Corifelin vaccine right before vaccination. Two bottles of ingredients equal 1 dose for a cat over three months of age. The drugs are mixed and vaccination is carried out using a standard injection in the hip or withers area.

Important. A protective barrier appears in the animal 2-3 weeks after vaccination. The vaccination will need to be repeated in a year.

Dosage and method of administration

The quadricat is used to prevent diseases in cats from 3 months of age.

IMPORTANT: Vaccination is carried out on a completely healthy individual! Before vaccination, the animal should be checked for helminths and preliminary deworming should be carried out. To do this, the cat is given antiparasitic drugs for 2 weeks. And a couple of hours before the injection, an antihistamine is given to prevent allergies.

At home, you should strictly follow the instructions for use and use only sterile instruments.

Immediately before grafting, the dry and liquid components are mixed, and the resulting mixture is drawn into one syringe. The drug is injected subcutaneously into the shoulder blade or intramuscularly into the thigh area.

The injection dosage is 1 ml regardless of the age and breed of the cat.

Immunity is developed for one year, so it is recommended to repeat the vaccination annually.

Side effects

The main advantage of Quadrikat is that it has virtually no side effects.

Sometimes only a few reactions occur:

  1. Swelling at the injection site. It quickly disappears and does not cause discomfort to the kitten.
  2. Anaphylactic reaction. This phenomenon is extremely rare. The attack is removed directly in the veterinary clinic, then symptomatic treatment is carried out.

After vaccination with Quadricat, swelling may occur at the injection site.

Analogs of the drug Quadrikat

Quadrikat has analogues:

  1. Nobivak Tricat trio. The drug contains in its composition: feline rhinotracheitis virus, calcivirosis, panleukopenia virus in a weakened form.
  2. Multifel. This drug is made from inactivated industrial strains of feline calcivirosis, panleukopenia viruses, chlamydia psittaci, and infectious rhinotracheitis. Contains aluminum hydroxide as an adjuvant.

Analogues should be selected exclusively by a doctor, as they may cause an unexpected reaction.

Reviews about the vaccine

Olga, Tver. When our cat was 7 years old, she died of distemper. It was painful to watch her suffer, but the doctors could not do anything. They only reproached us for not vaccinating the animal as required. It never occurred to us that our pet needed this, because she didn’t even go out onto the balcony. And we have heard a lot of terrible things about vaccinations. However, almost a year after Marusya’s death, we decided to get a cat again. And this time we went straight for vaccination. The veterinarian examined the kitten, he was not yet 3 months old, and told him to come back when the kitten reaches this age. A month later we got vaccinated. The reactions we were afraid of did not happen. The quadricate is really easily tolerated by animals, so now we are not afraid of vaccinations. And recently we carried out revaccination with this drug.

The Quadricat vaccine is well tolerated by cats.

Sergey, Obninsk. My wife and I are animal lovers. We have 2 cats and 3 male cats living in our regular apartment. And we, as responsible owners, carry out mandatory vaccination of pets. We have been using the drug Quadrikat for three years now. First, it was tested on adult pets (we had already picked them up as big ones on the street), and then on the younger generation. Our cats produce excellent kittens, which we distribute after vaccination. The only time there was a reaction to the drug was when one of the kittens had a swollen wither. But the next day the lump disappeared, and the baby felt great. We advise you to listen to the advice of your veterinarian and vaccinate with Quadricat.
